The GD soy based wiring insulation. Lived in the woods for a very long time with Ford and Mazda products, never had a concern about rodent damage. Granted there was less wiring altogether back then, but geez, that's even more reason to not use soy based insulation! Really hate to see that people buy trucks for rugged outdoor use at roughly 50k and can't even have peace of mind in the wild! :annoyed:

Tundras have that nanny state feature now too?!?! My friend used to have a 2007 Camry Hybrid, loaded with everything including leather seats, sunroof, and navigation; Thankfully, it only had an old school AUX input and no full iPod integration, so I would act as DJ while my friend drove.

The navigation would not work at all while the Camry was moving, even if someone was riding shotgun, so if we spontaneously decided we wanted to go somewhere, my buddy would have to pull over so one of us could put the address in.

My biggest grievance is that all Toyotas after a certain year won't let you change songs on your iPod while the vehicle is moving; I am currently in a rented 2021 RAV4 XLE while my Tacoma is getting repaired from the pipe incident, and it has this stupid nanny state feature. My Tacoma is a 2010 and has a high-end touch screen stereo that my neighbor helped install back in 2018; No nanny state bullshit and I am able to change songs on my iPod without stopping the truck!

If I had to pick a single annoyance, it is that it beeps if you open the door before taking your foot off the brake. Dear Toyota, I know how to stop and exit a vehicle, thank you very much. I have so many beeps in my life, this one makes me crazy. As do the 8 beeps if you step away from the truck while it's running... but I guess that one would be annoyance number two...

Coming from Gm trucks for years. The tundra is a fabulous truck except I have hard time finding wipers that aren’t noisy after a few months. The wipe is just noisy and annoying. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned and will be hard pressed to let it go for at least a decade or so. Bulletproof reliability has won me forever.

I’d be curious to know why you would not want to have an Auto 4x4 selection?
It is a huge game changer on country backroads in the rain especially. Also very nice on intermittently plowed roads.

You can change the unlock door preference in settings. It gives you the option of drivers or all doors with single push of the unlock.

Push start is nice, I have it in my Tacoma though.

Tacoma also has individual tpms, really wish I had that in the tundra. Along with a few other center cluster information readings. Like speed limits pop up and easier maintenance resets like the taco. It’s not bad but would like them to be the same.

Maybe a dead chipmunk stuck in the air box or somewhere else ?

I can tell you they got into my 2018 when it was parked for long periods during Covid. There is nothing keeping them from making their way into the glove box and making a nice shredded home out of the cabin filter. These particles then drop down to the large cabin fan and get lodged in the fins. When you go to use it, it seizes up and if you keep trying to make it work, it will be toast. Dealer found a totally shredded cabin filter. Wanted to charge me to remove the fan. I took it home and luckily it comes out easy, I cleaned it out and re-installed.

So other than being an open door policy for critters I really don't like that if I park pointing up, under Pine trees for a few days and it rains alot. The pine needles pass by the moonroof seal and then when I drive away they get pushed into the roof drains and it clogs easily. Result is water down the front Pillars inside on one side depending on the angle you are tilted at. Good thing is the drains are easily cleaned out with a thin piece of metal. Pines needles never made it past any other moon roof seal on my other vehicles.

'21 checking in, no driver side grab handle, no transmission cooler, no auto window up or auto passenger window.

I've since rectified the first two, I wish there was an easy button on the windows.

Simple fix if you're interested. Just need a simple relay installed behind the radio to trick it into thinking you're in park. I have mine set to a switch.

Many of the annoyances posted here are based on options that are available in some years and some trim lines. My true annoyances are:
    1. Soy based wiring. Even though I have avoided an issue so far, this issue is so common there should be a class action suit against all auto manufacturers, the wire manufacturers, and the idiot environmental groups that don't give 2 seconds of thought to the ramifications of their whining.
    2. The default of locking you out of many features, including nav, when driving - fortunately there is a simple, inexpensive fix for this.
    3. Clear coat and paint that is WAY too thin for a vehicle that is marketed for use in off-road activities. Driving through light underbrush should not leave marks as easily as it does.
    4. The stupid engine cutoff when opening the door after a remote start. There is NO rational explanation for this stupid behavior.

fair enough. To each their own. But FWIW, Bluetooth is an extremely low level, non-ionizing emitter. It is far, far, far too weak to alter electrons in an atom or change cellular structure or do any of the other things that ionized emitters can cause.

not to mention, you can’t walk around just about anywhere without being bombarded by a huge range of wireless signals you can’t even control. Adding an extreme low frequency BT signal isn’t going to make things worse :)
