    Pretty things
Picked up all of the items to pull apart my hub assembly as well... Then I put them in a drawer, unused for another occasion.

Physics will mandate some raising of the truck along with the lifting of the LCA, but will not lift the truck off the jack stands when only lifting enough to compress the suspension adequately to decrease the angle of the CV axle.

Nothing wrong with digging deeper into your truck than necessary... if you put everything back together correctly

Got around to installing my Alpharex headlights. Now to just figure out the birds nest of the DRL wiring...and the sequential turn signal. I swear I followed the instructions, but when I did it per them, the turn signals in the front didn't work and fast blinked like there was no bulb installed. I'll figure it out this week... Maybe ‍♂️

I finally finished the rear heated seats install. This probably looks really easy, but the switches were too deep to fit in that space so I had to make modifications and I broke a switch. And I scratched up the plastic so I covered it in vinyl which was harder than YouTube had led me to believe. Also running the wires under the carpet was a pain and the wires were too short so I had to lengthen them.

Moved to my next project: replacing the drop-in bed liner with a bed rug. I found about 30 lbs of dirt and rocks, and of course, rust. You probably know exactly where I found it, too.

So I ground out the rust which left a hole in the bed... Power washed it all today and I'll Corroseal the rust tomorrow.

Question: Is it bad if I just patch the hole with some duct tape or Dynamat before putting in the bed rug? I'm not planning to haul anything extreme, but I don't want to literally sweep a problem under the rug either. But I also know there's rust I can't reach without removing the entire bed, a task that seems beyond my skill level.

Yeah. Took it to another shop, it's in alignment, so not even sure what the tech is saying now. Will deal with next time I'm there.

removing the bed isn't actually that difficult, unbolt those 6 bed bolts, and then from there if you just need a little more clearance underneath you could jack the bed up a little bit while watching the filler neck for the gas tank and some misc wires... granted though, actually removing the bed is slightly time consuming (remove filler neck for gas tank and misc wiring)

if you know how to weld and it were me, I would weld the hole closed (if its just that dime sized hole in the photo) if the hole is any bigger than I would put a patch piece in. however welding rusty metal sucks and tends to burn through very easily... you could try spraying the rusty underside with a rust converter (rustoleum); I've been seeing this rust dissolver from Eastwood that you might want to try out

Thanks! It didn't occur to me to just raise the bed enough to get some rust converter or dissolver in there. I'll put that on my to-do list.

I previously had installed LED bed lights, but they operated with a switch and I would always forget to press it so I never used it. Also if I forgot to turn it off it would kill the battery.

Today I bypassed the switch and attached the negative terminal to a switch that's triggered when I open the tailgate. Now the lights turn on like the refrigerator door.

This is the switch wired to the negative on the lights. Note that I ran the wire through the wrong hole in this picture:

    E67FE1D6-7B62-4349-B6E1-DA1BBE90B5CF.jpg

This is a screw glued to my finger so I could fish it through the brake light opening into the little whole I drilled. Did I invent this? Can I now put Redneck Engineer on my resume?

    E065908D-8287-40AA-9E30-19F59275E22E.jpg

Here it is installed and trimmed to proper length:

    7406A1F6-A508-4644-B261-C4CC355FD26C.jpg

    Here are the lights functioning:

    A2F30215-17EB-4B50-A52E-659FDE3B50D8.jpg

I'm putting a bed rug in soon. Here's where I snaked the positive wire:

    18FD4736-50C5-4DD1-94E5-8273416FD27E.jpg

The wire between the left and right lights runs underneath the bed above the spare. It's all accessible by removing the brake lights. There's a shocking amount of room in there.

Ok fine I installed the bed rug. But repainting and installing the tie-downs will have to wait.

I wouldn’t recommend. The tint started peeling on them probably six months in.

Nice I like the tailgate switch idea. Where’d you get the switch from. I was going to do this also but to have a dummy light on the dash to let me know the tailgate is open. I’ve driven off several times with the tailgate open and valuables inside. Luckily I haven’t lost anything yet. Though I’d like to tie it to the bed lights also that’s a good idea.

Got the rest of my lift in finally. Will be trying to tuck my 37s under the truck. The wheels and tires came in last week and couldn’t wait so I threw them on to see if they’d fit. They didn’t. Still rubbing a small amount at full lock if I hit a bump.
