    Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas) thanked Capitol Police for their bravery and recounted the shooting that critically injured his colleague, Rep Steve Scalise (R-La.).

    "The thin blue line held today," Williams, who was grounding balls near first and second base at the time of the shooting, said.

    He thanked the officers, Special Agents Crystal Greiner and David Bailey.

    Williams said they showed "what's right with America" after shooter James Hodgkinsonshowed "what's wrong with America."

    "Americans should be proud this is the kind of country that still produces these kinds of heroes," he said of the officers.
