Help with wiring in rear. On passenger side in rear , there is a harness that runs to lights , and there is a 3- prong male connector in line here that doesn't connect to anything. Is this for trailer brake hookup? Right now there is no power to connector , and Toyota mech. said may not be fused yet if not in use. Has anyone ever used this connection? Pretty sure it’s the rear connection for the sonar sensors. A separate harness plugs in there and runs to a sensor on the drivers side and a sensor on the passenger side.

Does your truck have sonar/parking sensors already? If not I’m 99% sure that’s what this is.

Mine had one random plug like this in the passenger side rear and it was for the sonar system which my truck did not come with from factory.

No sensors , so probably is thanks alot. I was hoping to run a brake and tail off it for my new cap. Doesn't look like it now.

Seeing as your wires are Red,Green,Black I’m 99% sure that’s what it is. It goes to the sonar ecu which you most likely don’t have. Other end of the wires most likely dead end at a connector in the interior. AJ4/AJ5

That is diagram I was looking at , at the dealer , and I believe it is the plug running off just behind the SR1 connector

Yes it is half of the SR1 connector, you don’t have the other half plugged in because you don’t have Sonar.

In other news you could probably add sonar without a crazy amount of work if you ever wanted. Assuming your cluster would display the warnings ect.

Toyota most likely has a universal harness they use in the rear for all trucks.

I am most likely going to use these wires for my backup camera because they run all the way to a connector behind the glove box. Easy to tie into the radio and no need to run new wires, cut a hole in the cab/firewall ect

Thanks so much for all the help, and no I don't want to add sonar to my truck , I have a hard enough time reading it on my boat LOL, But seriously thanks again for all the help.
