I had one for my lawnmower a few years ago and it took forever to fill the tank on the mower. It was gone after one summer of using it. However, it may be a good fit for you.

Are you road tripping in rural areas with no gas stations? If you aren't in the middle of no where where gas is not available, I don't see any advantage to this.

Not to mention 14 gallons at 6lbs per gallon = 84lbs plus the weight of the container is an extra 100lbs of weight. As others have said if you're out in the middle of nowhere then do it.

I echo the comment about where you're going. If you're going to be in maybe Death Valley for more than a weekend, a 5-gal jerry can is usually enough. And even then, you can make it out unless you wheel all weekend.

He's in Canada, so distances between fuel stops can certainly be long especially if he's travelling remote for hunting/fishing/camping. I usually bring along 10 gallons of fuel minimum on my backcountry trips.

I prefer the Scepter Military Fuel Can. They don't expand, are super durable (i've seen them used as traction aids) and with the pour spout they empty in about a minute. They're not cheap though.

A 6 gallon gas can was always more than enough. I switched to a 2 gallon for weight savings because I hardly used the 6 gallon to begin with. That seems like a lot but it depends on how remote you travel and stay too.

I have 2 fuel (usually squeeze around 21 liters in each) and 1 water of these. They are simply fantastic. I actually got the olive colored cans and then swapped the diesel gaskets for regular gas.

Zero leaks (from -40C to +40C), unbelievably durable (I have been known to use one as a step) and when connected to a good spout is super fast to empty.

I use 2 Rotopax 3 gal ones when atving, can ride all weekend with extra gas at cottage & mount on machine if planning longer / overnight trips.
If needed depending on trip I would bring them with me on the road. Never had to use them with the truck but…I get where OP is coming from depending on his trip / route plan.

That's a whole gas tank really, for passenger cars anyway. Might be a little more than I would consider for a road trip. A 5 gallon should get you by.

Princess Auto sells them too (same brand can).

I have been eyeing them for a while. Price dropped $20, still more than your link, but free shipping and basically lifetime warranty.

Ordered a couple and a spout for home and truck. As you said, sometimes gas is few and far between when traveling north or south of the #1. And sometimes those remote stations are closed down.

Yeah, I've seen them at PA. They won't price match though and their regular price is $25+ higher. Fortunately I have family in the Lower Wasteland so I place and order for pick up in store, my dad will go pick them up and bring them too me next time he comes up to GP.

I want to follow up on this, how are you guys mounting them in the bed? may have to head up to Northern Ontario, and want to bring as much fuel with me as possible.

I have a Front Runner mount that I have used in the past, but I usually ratchet strap them at the front (cab side) of the bed. I keep it simple as I like to keep my bed usable the canopy keeps it covered from the elements.

That was the thought I had, but wasn't sure if that's the right way to do it, even thought about using the spare transfer flow tank.

My scepters (both) would expand “but” they had fuel in them most of the time and would use them each time I went out it seemed. If I didn’t I would put what I had left in the tank of my LandCruiser tank. She could not pass anything with that straight 6 even a gas station.

The Scepters are very good expensive gas containers that is for sure

I'm a bit late here. Scepter products are available on Amazon here in the US of Everywhere. Very reasonably priced I might add!

Not the Military fuel cans. They are illegal to sell new in the USA because they don't have any child resistance or CARB compliance.

Yep, the military fuel cans are very different than the ones you'll find at Home Depot, Harbor Freight or wherever else you buy fuel cans.

Scepter is not on "my" list yet. I buy strictly NATO Wavian for my needs and a small fortune on RotoPax.
