    Hi Guys n Gals,

    Looking to add a trailer to the yard. Towing with the Tundra. Primary uses as follows;

-transporting lumber and building materials. Sometimes this means 16’ 8x8s.
-transporting 1-2 snow machines locallyish (not long road trips up from the city).
    -dump runs/firewood detail
-picking up large items (ie appliances)
    -helping out with people’s moves.

I think this means I want about a 7x16’ tandem axle landscape/utility with solid sides and folding end gate/ramp. Something like this perhaps:

    Few questions:

Am I on the right track choice-wise?

Is a 16 footer a pain vs maybe a 12? What about long lumber if I go shorter?

I am tempted by aluminum because I hate rust but am also a bit cheap.. Anything a good option to avoid the cost- galvanized or some sort of corrosion prevention voodoo?

Wait for a used unicorn to come up or buy new? I’m in NE Ontario if you’re selling one lol.

    Any other advice appreciated too.

    I have a 6x10 utility

    I need a 7x14

making two trips or missing out on something because you can’t fit it sucks

Aluminum is a great option if you can afford it.

16’ is a very good length for most. I personally like 18-20’.

Aluminum is great…like said earlier if you can afford it. I will never get another steel after owing my 12 year old Aluma (bought it brand new in 2010). I have washed it a hand full of times and it still looks pretty good.

I have several trailers, a 10’ a 12’ a 16’ and a 20’. Every one f them has a specific use but I’d get the biggest one you can. I use the 10 and 20 the most. The 10. Can tow behind my atv to move feed and wood and the 20 hauls my tractor.

5.2k# 5 x 10’ utility with 24” sides hauls the majority of my wares. Dump runs, gravel, dirt, brush, you name it.

10k# 7 x 20’ flatbed with drive over fenders hauls tractor, one stuff, hay, and anything else that is too big or heavy for the little trailer.

Both tow like a dream with the Tundra. Both have excellent brakes, so stopping is peaceful….
If I were limited to one trailer, I’d have the 10’er. I use it 5/1 over the 20. That said, I’d never have just one!

Get the bigger one you won’t regret it. I was going to get a 16’ car hauler to haul my rock crawler Tacoma but so happy I bought a 18’ instead. Nice to have a little extra room.

16’ 8x8’s…on a regular basis. Timber framer? I’d rather a deck over so I can load and unload with forks.

no single trailer is gonna do everything well. I have 9 trailers because it is easier to have the right trailer for the right job…or so I tell myself. Good thing I don’t have to explain myself to anyone. Haha
