I shut of the fan for my AC or heat, but still feel air coming out of vents. Why is this?? Is it common in Tundras?

Pretty sure it's just the outside air you're feeling coming through the vents. The velocity of the air picks up as you drive faster too. Put it on recirculate in it closes that vent to the outside air.

now that it's winter, I get a lot of hot air out of my dash vents when on windshield and even floor. need to keep them shut and they get HOT. recirc doesn't seem to help much with this.

I've had mine off, but after driving for 30-40 minutes, the circulate button shuts itself off. Heard it had something to do with pressure?

You will always get fresh air inside the cabin even with the hvac system off. Reason being it's all about the legalities, so you don't asphyxiate yourself and for cabin pressure. If your door seals are in good working order you would have a hard time closing the doors also.

My issue is that when I have the air directed to the floor I still get a good amount of air flow through the dash vents, enough that I have to close them not to feel it. I have never seen this in any other vehicle I have

great question, have wondered that myself! the truck just knows better than us I guess. positive cabin pressure I guess would aid in preventing any poisoning from exhaust gases.

Mine does this too. I had it checked by the dealer and they all had looks on their faces that were not helpful. It is the dumbest thing I've seen on this truck other than the fact that the driver's seat is off-center with regards to the steering wheel... About an inch. Dam OCD. When I mentioned that, They had the same looks on their faces, and then ran to another Tundra to see if it was just mine, but it's all of them. They eventually got back to me and said "dunno" about the seat and that it is mandatory that all new vehicles have a constant fresh air flow. I said fine but why, if I only put the vents to floor mode, does it still blow in my f@cking face! I have all my dash vents closed, but it is just plain dumb to have this slip through their R&D. My dealership is good but they don't build the truck, they just service it, however Toyota makes it , however dumb. Aggravating, but not a deal breaker. Still love the truck but wtf sometimes. Right!?

I've only been able to get the recirculate to turn on when the AC is on, is that normal? I'd check my manual but it's not handy right now.

Edit: Can't have the defroster on with circulation, tested this morning.

Any idea on how we can make the recirculate button stay engaged. It turns off every 3-5 minutes on my truck, very annoying...

I brought my to the dealer about the vents not shutting off. The service rep said it is normal and they also checked a few new Tundra's on the lot and they all did the same thing. Oh well.

I can't stand this also. I like the heat blowing on the floor. NOT in my face. Dash vents always have air flow no matter the settings.

My first generation Tundra's fresh/recirculate could be applied in any of the settings. The limitation on my 2017 is frustrating. I wonder if this is something that can be changed using Techstream?

Mine does this too. In the winter I alternate the windshield only (startup) and windshield/ floor combo when driving. Otherwise the wipers freeze to the windshield.
My solution is that I close the 2 center dash vents and angle the 2 outer vents onto the driver/ passenger windows so it acts like more defrost. I can usually keep it comfortable/cozy by adjusting fan and temp (SR5- no climate control).

I adjusted the vents the same way in a last ditch effort to justify the core ridiculousness of the debacle... Oooooh, I'll get more defrost... Lol I preached to myself that I will be OK just stop thinking about it because there is nothing else we can do. My 06' only put the air, where it was set to... I guess Toyota is "going places" but it appears to be backwards with this one.

I am not confident on my answer but I just came from a Tacoma and on TW someone posted if you hold the recirculate button down 3 seconds or so it'll stay on recirculate.

Is it me or does tundra floor heater does not blow as hard. I have it on the max and it feels like it’s on low. Had the dealer look at it and they said it normal.

Turn direction knob to dash. Turn fan off all the way left. Push recirculation button. No air will come out, put you in hand on it.

Have the same problem. Heat coming out Dash vents even though they should be closed off since I have it set to come out the floor vents.
