Probably the tailgate. Mine doesn't line up perfectly on the pass side when fully closed. Might be able to adjust it with some minor modifications such as shims or similar. That said, I will say mine has been "stress tested" with far more than the average load for a split second. Suprisingly the cables didn't break, but I think they stretched a tiny bit. Maybe your truck has had a load "test" as well???

Did you try messing with the brackets that the window latches onto inside the topper? Sometimes if you move them further away from the window (towards the front of the truck) it will "grab" the latch and pull it in tighter. You might have to push a little harder to close it, but it'll keep it tighter. I had to mess with those when I got a new topper on my 2018.

Might be worth a shot anyway, but it honestly doesn't look too bad in the pictures. I feel you, though—I always obsess over little things like that when I get something new. Even if you do nothing you'll probably forget about it in a couple weeks!

Edit: Ah, I just noticed you have different style latches than what I'm referring to. I still bet there is a way to adjust them, though.

When the dealer installed my Snug Top they pushed it to far forward thinking it would make a nice tight fit at the tailgate and the liftgate not flush

I had them reinstall it correctly where it's now flush at the front of the bed and the tailgate.

This is what it looks like to me as well,in fact I think it is also crooked and too far forward mostly on the side with the gap.
It is complete Bullshit to say that this is normal, the dealer who installed it just does not care and is not competent and or the installer is not I have to screw around a lot when I install them to get those gaps exactly where they need to be. The dealers use a forklift usually and drop them into place and it looks like they didnt even try to get your right to me?

This might well be normal for them but it should sure not be this way for a new top!

Push the tailgate striker in a smidge and or pull the topper back on that side.

    Step 1 get a hammer

    Step 2 use hammer

If nothing happens refer to step 1 and repeat the process with a larger hammer.

You can adjust the catch brackets inside the shell. Mine wasn't perfect either so I spent a good amount of time adjusting each one back and forth until it shut even on both sides.

Try adjusting your tailgate. Also try adjusting the whole topper. If those fail, drink a beer and see post #9.

Went and got a quote for a Leer 180 today at the local dealer. Mind sharing what state you’re in so I can avoid the one you used?!
Also curious to see full profile pics of the truck and shell.

I downloaded the installation instructions from the Snug Top site, printed them off and took them to the dealer so he had no argument. Have them make it right!
