5 batterries in a year? Think maybe the problem is not the batteries? just sayin'...

I'm betting you have some kind of drain condition going on. that is to say something is sucking them dry when parked. It is almost statistically impossible to buy 5 brand new batteries and have them all go bad in that short of time, in the absence of some other problem.

yep bank account is running low from it..
Nope no draining its battery bad cells. Guy at autozone pulled me over to the side who I knew, and told me they had 3 bad batchs that are dropping like flies. Some didnt make it out the door. This one here is strong I have now. No problems. Mistakes happen in manufacturing, no manufacturer is perfect. Just saying.

Yes, I love within 5 miles of it...it is pretty sweet:D The red top was a bit smaller than stock but it came with a platform thing that attached to the bottom. Fits good after that. It was much lighter than the stock battery too. The yellow and blue tops were a bit much for me at this current time but hopefully in the future I will have more stuff to power!

Ah. I didn't catch on that they were all from the same place. Yup a bad batch would explain it.

The red top should be fine. I used a blue top in my pop up camper. It was getting cycled quite a bit. Sounds like nowadays if your battery doesn't leak or short cell in a couple weeks, (days), you've got a keeper. My new Bosch (exide) is still looking good after 3months. Maybe I'll get lucky with this battery.

My factory Battery (True Start by Toyota) lasted 7 years and a couple of months. It did have the corrosion issue, but not as much as I heard here in the forum.. Guess, these batteries from Toyota are like cars, some are lemons and some are not.

My Tundra is 9 months old, 7700 miles on it. Battery was dead today. Charged for two hours, it started so I ran to the store. Was there about 10 minutes then needed a jump. So here's the 2nd significant issue I've had with my truck. I'm about over it.

What's crazy, my 07 original battery (based upon battery sticker date which was 02/07) was replaced about six months ago. 7 years old and still good but decided to replace it. 9 months/7.7K is not good. Time to go to dealer and bitch( politely at first of course.)

I know this thread is a little old, but figured I would post my experience with corrosion. No issues with the battery, just pretty fair amount of corrosion on mostly the negative clamp. Talked to the good folks at CE Auto Elec in Arizona, and he said the primary cause is dissimilar metals. Battery post is one material, OEM clamp is another and cable ends are yet another. I went with the marine style battery terminals which are three times the size as OEM. Only bummer is the positive is a 3/8" stud and I had to carefully use my step bit on the OEM cable rings and open them up just a hair. Installed the felt washers as added protection.

    Almost corroded through OEM clamp:

    New heavy duty clamp:

    DSCN3489.jpg
Could I have gone to the dealer and had it covered under warranty ? , possibly, and only to have them replace it with the same material as original and have it happen again. Sometimes just easier to do it yourself........

For what it's worth the replacement Bosch,"Exide", that I bought isn't having any corrosion issues like my factory Exide did. (So far).

I've always had very good luck with the Waley World Ever Starts. If one goes bad they are every where and they do not bitch to get one replaced. I throw the receipt in the glove box so its ready to go if I ever need a replacement. I use plain bearing grease and never have corrosion issues. Baking soda and water cleans corrosion right up if you ever get any (which you won't once you start using the grease). All available at Waley World cheap. ;) My 13 still has the OEM factory battery in it. Will go ahead and replace it just cause with a new one this week. Will be making the first road trip of several next month to Alaska so dead battery is not an option.

Im waiting for my 12 terminal Power Distribution Block to show up from Amazon then I will replace my battery. Will put a little grease on the block terminals too.. Will put all of my HID power on that block and it will also work for anything else that I want to run right off of the battery/power block.

I have a 2012 Tundra for 2 years now and the battery terminals did the same thing...corroding - mentioned it to Toyota service and they replaced my battery with a "True-2" battery.
