Anyone installed a yellowbox to correct their speedometer? I'm looking for info on if it works and where you had to splice in.

Personally I've only seen info on them for the 1st gens. Hopefully someone pops up that's put it on the 2nd gens.

If not other options would be a Rough Country or Hypertech speedometer calibrator. Install is pretty straight forward.

I installed one on my 2015 pro. Really easy and works great. The software thinks I’m on 44 inch tires and 5.29 gears for it to be correct. I used multiple gps’ and kept the usb cable plugged into the device so I can make changes after each run to make sure my Speedo was spot on. I’m on 37s and 5.29 gears. It took me like 5 runs, I first tried 37s and 5.29s and it was way off.

Oops. My bad. I got the hyper tech one.
This one. Used to be $229 and now it’s $256. Works great. Sorry no experience with the yellow box oneAD789BEC-38E9-43AE-85BF-55AF9D66CDBD.jpg

Clear the gear change, no need to input it. Nothing on the truck to tell it it got different gears. Just input your tire size change.

Depending on how the ECU picks up the speed signal(s) the plug and play yellerbox may not work.

They do sell a splice it yourself version. I haven't looked at later gen wiring but I think if you catch the wire before it hits your speedo, splice there and add power/ground and you should be in business. This is how we did on first gens before the plug and play came out.

wait, are you saying that my speedometer will read the same after my 5.29s are installed? I haven’t looked into it, but assumed the speed sensor was in the t-case. Be pretty rad if it’s wheel-speed sending….

yep, all you need is the tire change info for the correct speed. I had the same issue when I changed over to 5.29s too, input the gear change and it threw off the calibration, cleared the gear change and it read correctly again.

Bitchin! I can live with the speedo being off a RCH due to tire size, as I only went to 34” tires. It’s off by less than 5%. Only a couple mph at 60.
Yeah, a pretty deep gear change for mid-size tires, but I tow a lot in hills….

I’m fully stoked. Sorry for the hijack. Back to your regularly scheduled program…
