Since Alaska is "kind of cold sometimes" I need a block heater. Anyone got any ideas? Found a few on line, just looking to get the real deal on which way to go if you guys don't mind.

Going to call the Toyota of Dallas parts department to see if I can order a Canadian part to put on my soon to be Alaskan truck.

I live in a place just as cold and I don't use one. Might be helpful at times, but not necessary so far
My ex wife's car had one and we never gave ourselves enough time to allow it to work properly. Where in AK are you going? I see DFW on your ptofile. You moving up there?

for Diesel sure but I don't think it's necessary for the gas Tundra.

I'd expect they are the dry cartridge style, though my Tundra already had one when I bought it. I installed one on my '06 Tacoma. It doesn't get terribly cold here where I live, but it makes cold morning starts much easier on your engine, your windows can defrost much sooner, etc. I wouldn't even think of heading to AK in winter without a block heater and a battery blanket.

Use a digital timer and have it turn on 4-6 hours before you plan on starting the truck, or if it's extremely cold, leave it plugged in w/o a timer.

Pick your poison here for the block heater. Battery blanket will be aftermarket.
