So my son has a 72 gmc stepside we are about to sell. Im not really sure what price to sell it at. Want some opinions. Id say about 90% done. Engine runs , but needs alternator , carb (have one that goes with it) and a battery. Paint is maybe 7/10 , interior is almost complete, new wheels.

If i were to keep it, id do a new wiring harness. It also needs brake maintenance from sitting.

So let me know ballpark what you guys think. Ask any questions

Since it isn't in running condition and the buyer cant hear it, I would say you're at about 8-10 grand based on those 2 pictures. Clean it up and spend the money to get it running/driving and you'd be able to get a solid 17-22k for it.

EDIT: I see you said it runs, not sure how it does that without a carb, alt, or battery.

Ballpark only, so please don't get offended:
    As it sits: $10-12k
With a battery, alternator and working carburetor: $15-18k

That's a really great looking truck to me. Where are you located?

Not offended by anything. Just here for opinions so i know generally what to expect. My gut was 10k ,as it sits but my wife gawked when i said that so i thought maybe i was off.........So its been sitting for awhile. Weve had it running and driving since weve owned it. Long story why but it sat for awhile. Carb battery and alternator all were determined bad last time i tried getting it going again. Nothing has happened to the engine since then that would prevent it from running other than those components. Engine turns over.

I would invest the time and money to get it running for maximum selling price.

    That's a nice truck.

Yea i like it but my money is tied up in my tundra and my 84. The 72 was my sons and his biological fathers when he was little. The dad has had zero contact since ive been with my wife 5 years. Long story short, son doesnt want it , or want to work on it and i dont really want to put money into it anymore as i have an 84 myself.

Agree with prices quoted above. I don't look often, but around here a running/driving, unrestored, not customized 69-72 Chevy/GMC seems to be around $15-$18k. That seems to be pretty consistent over the last few years.

I would say you weren't far off, it's a little dusty/dirty in the pics so a good wash could get that money out of it.

I would get it running, it would be well worth the investment. Just buy a cheap carb, Costco battery, and a alternator. All in that would cost you in the 300-400 dollar range to get an extra 8-12k out of it.
