    Hello all.

We had ourselves a nice off-roading and camping trip from Montrose, CO to Moab, UT.

Our goal was to travel and camp along the Rimrocker Trail that goes from Montrose to Moab. here is a pic showing the route:

    Capture.jpg

We ended where the blue arrow is, which is about 3/8 of the trail. Was hoping to do the whole thing, but 3 kids under 10 makes it hard to pick up camp and get going early enough. So had to bail in Uravan as it was getting late and we had to make Moab by night time. We stopped at local firefighter station in Nucla, CO for guidance and told us to take River Road that follows the Dolores river down to highway 90. Was a beautiful drive as they said. Needless to say, we only took 1 main highway on this trip which was I70 for the drive home.

Thanks to @thefatkid for all the info on the trail. Also, thanks to @alee891 and @3378jakesr5 from TW for the info as well.

I won't get into too much detail of the trail itself as there are much better writes ups out there than I'll ever write below.

Anyway, here are some pics of the trail (which we camped on the first night) and second campsite outside of Canyonlands NP. Sorry, hope not too many pics:

    Look at that! No IPads.

Some of y'all might recognize this store from a famous movie. It's in Bedrock, CO.

    IMG_3285.jpg IMG_3289.jpg IMG_3326.jpg

Throughout the trip I kept telling the kids to "beer me", get a beer from the cooler. By the last day the youngest says to me "dad, Capri-Sun me" IMG_3357.jpg IMG_3372.jpg

Looks like a good old fun time Jose!!

I have never taken that trail to Moab from Montrose.

We are usually pretty preoccupied in the Dry Creek area.

Amazing what you find out from others and it was right there in front of us.

    Thanks for sharing.

@COMiamiFan i know you put a lot of thought and planning as you prepared for the trip. Did you have any use for the extra gear you bought like the compressor, or was the truck bulletproof and trouble free?

Didn't use any of the emergency supplies I took. Zero. Truck handled like a champ. Main concern was tires; flat in the middle of nowhere no bueno. But BFGs have never let me down. But still better to take and not need . . . Just took a tire repair kit off Amazon and a compressor I bought at Costco (can't justify ARB ones), block of wood for the jack and good to go. So thanks for showing me your emergency gear.

Thelma and Louise. Was told it was the store that they stopped at during some point in the movie.

:sorry: I got you next time. I'm looking at local trails that are easy to mod so us CO guys can take a day trip soon. Easy enough for young ones to enjoy and not get cranky sitting in a car for too long and we can stop in a cool place and make some lunch. Doing some research . . .
