5100s on middle setting, what tire are you running?

I have searched and have seen multiple sizes that you can run with the 5100 on middle setting. I don’t like the top setting because it looks nose high. I really don’t want to go with a wider tire as I do not want to risk hitting the UCA or swaybar. So I am just wondering what people have experience with it have it on the middle setting. I don’t mind doing a little trimming and removing the front flap but I don’t wanna do anything else. Thanks in advance!

I'm running my 5100s on the middle setting. Running Nitto Crosstek2s 275/65/18. I also have Spidertrax WHS023 wheel spacers installed to make the wheels/ tires more flush to the fender flares.

I ended up with 2.5 of front lift with my 6112s.
Toytec shackles in the rear on the 1" setting.
    I'm running 275/60/20 tires.
The truck had stock 285/55/20s on it when new.

How do you like the ride on the middle setting? I like the ride with my Off Road. I want it the same if not better.

Stock for now, but have TRD Rear Sway bar for it.
On my 2012 Platinum I had 5100's all 4 corners. Middle setting in the front with 2 coachbuilder shims on both sides and it was perfectly level and awesome. I didn't want huge tires, so I went with 275/60R20 Falken Wildpeaks. They are great tires. I could run 90 mph on the freeway easy and the truck rode great. Off road was much more controlled.

I just got my 2020 and put Bilstein 5160 resi shocks on the back, (got a deal local). I am not sure yet what I am going to do in front, but the guy I bought the rears from has 6112's he is going to take off. Just waiting. I do a lot of in town and highway to the mountains and biking and stuff, so not a ton of off road, and this truck is beautiful.

275/70/18 fills out the look of the truck just enough, yet the tire isn’t so much bigger that it will mess with acceleration/mpg

275/70-18 fit on stock suspension, you can fit up to a 34 without much fuss with the middle setting on 5100s, so 295/70 or 285/75-18

It's more comfortable than OEM, IMO. Don't feel bumps as much.

285/75/18 Nittos. I had to take the forward mudflaps off. It has a 1” block on the back and a coach builder shim on the drivers side. And extended bump stops.

No, I have some rubbing on the front bumper cap mounts, but that’s all! Great turning radius still

Forget about the lift... it's irrelevant... if you don't want it to rub even when turning the wheels and compressing the suspension, then the fore-aft parts of the wheel well are what you need to deal with.

On stock wheels and UCAs you can run 295/70r18 (~34.4") or 285/75r18 (~34.8") with minor trimming (meaning no BMC). 35x12.5 are ~34.6" in reality, so it's that same ballpark.

If you want to use your stock rims, get one of those two sizes. Bigger looks better on Tundras.

If you get aftermarket rims with lower offset, more trimming will be required.

EDIT: I see that some people are getting rub on the swaybar at full lock with the stock +60 offset wheels. A 10mm spacer would take care of that though.

I’m running terra grappler in 305/60/18 and fit well. Getting new ones and upping it to 305/65/18 so they are little taller. 5100s on middle setting.

I’ll know tomorrow if the 305/65/18 fit. Fingers crossed but hopeful after seeing the reply’s here.

Rim offset makes a big difference. Those are nominally only 33.6" diameter though, so pretty small.

Nice rig. Just purchased front 5100’s and planning on doing the middle setting as well. I’m just a 1/2 an inch lower on the driver side and was wondering if you added any Coachbuilder shims? Any pros and cons to adding a shim? Or is it best to just leave the 5100’s alone at the middle setting? Thanks

Shims are fine IMO, but you should extend your bumpstops a bit, else they won't do anything... you'll bottom out your shock instead, and that isn't good.

No shims on mine. I’ve noticed some sag happening in the front. I need to take it in for an alignment and front shock adjustments before summer. I am running rear coachbuilder 1” shackles.

First off THANKS ! I had a slight "lean" maybe 1/4", did not go with any shims, thought about it but I never noticed it at all before.
