This one hits home..my buddy (who I'll be riding with next week) was first on scene prior to the accident and beat the living hell out of his patrol vehicle to get there before an accident occurred ..unfortunately, everything he did (including laying out spike strips, trying to shut down lanes, etc) to prevent an accident - happened in front of him. When he was taking the pulse of the passenger, the passenger died on him...he's doing ok and still beating himself up a little, but called me a few minutes ago to "debrief". Sometimes all you need is an ear and support to follow.

It's unfortunate incidents like this, that the public doesn't see behind the scenes and still have a negative perception on our law enforcement. I guarantee you most who criticize law enforcement, cannot do what they do. Imagine going from this call to some bs neighbor dispute..as a LEO you have to be able to have the "switch" to go from that call, and handle some neighbor dispute while taking verbal blows if you do not do what one party expects you to ...in the meantime you are still dealing with this mentally.

I know I'm ranting here, but I just want people to see what you have to go through at times...so if you want to yell at an Officer- remember to take incidents like this into thought and place yourself in their shoes.

Nothing can replace this officer or make it right by friends or family....but the court of law sure and the hell tried.

So I was going to work yesterday and two Highway Patrol Officers had been pulled over helping a lady with a disabled car (asuming here) and there was a Jeep Grand Cherokee that didn't move to the left lane, nor slowed down. One Officer jumped in his car and got after this guy and had him pulled over.

Funny thing is the rest of us knew why he got pulled over and were honking our horns in support when driving by.

Yep, me too. People are assholes.

Driving tonight some of our local finest was doing something to a storm drain and blocked traffic. People were getting all pissed off. It was only 90 seconds.

Texas has a violation called, Failure to vacate a lane for emergency vehicle. You have to leave the lane next to them open or slow to 20mph below posted limit. Huge fine if you dont.
