As the title states, has anyone successfully lifted a platinum trim sequoia? The front seems straight forward. Is there a spacer plate kit that works with the stock air suspension? Removing the air suspension is not an option.

Ideally, I'd like to retain the stock air suspension for towing and lift our 2018 Platinum around 2" or so. Coil overs in the front and the rear, well I have no clue where to start.

Any suggestions, links, help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a few coilover options, check out some of the sequoia builds on this site for more info. On the rear, I've seen that there are spacers available for the rear air suspension that will give you the lift you want and full use of the air suspension. Again, think I saw them on one of the sequoia builds on this site.

I've looked at 2-3 different vendors concerning the spacers and all have a small disclaimer that states it's not compatible with the Platinum trim of the Sequoia. Swapping out the shocks in the front is easy (except you lose the shock adjustment function). The only option I've seen for the rear is to order coils and replace the bottom perch (the top air bag perch is the same as the perch for the coils on the limited). I ran across a parts list somewhere that someone put together. It's right around 1k in parts to convert the Platinum to a setup identical to a Limited. Not sure if removing the air bags causes any code issues, etc.

I am planning on modifying the Daystar airbag cradle. I just have to find a free time to do it. The best part of it is, you do not need a spring compressor, LOL!

For those of us with the Platinum, I stumbled upon some interesting info on TundraSolutions.com. Looks like you can get 3/4"-1" in the rear by manually adjusting the height of the stock bag settings. Our 2018 already has a very slight rake, so this may be an optimal solution for people out there like myself who would like to add some Fox coilovers to the front. See link below for info.

You can read thru the whole thread or scroll down to post #36 by ravencr for actual results from the adjustment.

That's what most of us did with our Platinum. Some opted on completely replacing the air springs with coil. But that also add air to the airbag and gives it a stiffer ride. That's why I am going to try to add a cradle spacer under the existing bag and lower the adjustment to it's original to get back the ride quality.

Ah... Never seen this info posted here, which is why I thought it was useful. Have you found a cradle spacer yet that is compatible with the stock Platinum cradle? I've found several but ALL of them clearly state they are not compatible with the rear airbags on the Platinum.

I'm not interested in cutting and welding in a lower cradle for coils, but definitely open to modifying the existing setup to accommodate 1.5"-2" of lift.

The bag is bolted by a 12 or 14mm head bolt. By un-bolting it, you can collapse the bag and take measurement of the cradle. My plan is to laminate 3-4 HDPE sheet (cutting board) and cut them with different radius to sit securely in the cradle. Use a longer bolt to secure the bag back in place. As for the shocks, I already sourced the 5100 (Bilstein 33-230313 Monotube Shock Absorber, 46mm Jeep CJ5) which is taller so you won't over extend.

I hope that helps. It's 0°F here right now and I do not see myself doing any work in my rig until it gets significantly warmer. LOL!

I'm looking at a used TRD Pro Fox shock set off of a Tundra that someone is selling locally. I assume the front coilovers fit fine, but what about the rear shocks? Haven't come across anything about definitive that says the rear shocks are plug'n play. Do you think they will fit?

Shocks is plug and play fronts but I will suggest getting the lift kit from Westcott design to achieve the 3" in front. As for the rear, Sequoia is double eyelet and the Tundra us eyelet/stud. I do not remember the compressed length, but if the Tundra is equal or shorter, you maybe able to fabricate a mount to accommodate it since you'll be adding a lift anyway. But, it might be better to just get a pair of Sequoia rear Fox shocks. Shim the bottom of the bag and you should be set.

I specifically avoided Platinum for this reason, I'm in the process of adding Firestone bags in back to my 5100s & Dobinsons.

I tried avoiding the platinum as well, but combing the US for a reasonably priced 2018+ Limited, white, 4wd, 2nd row captains chairs and lowish mileage was tougher than bagging a unicorn in the wild.

Would have much rather had a limited. I do love all the bells and whistles of the platinum. I just wish the rear suspension would have matched the Limited with an addition of air bags from the factory. Also, the dial for adjusting the shocks... completely pointless.

Took me almost 6 months to find my 4x captain's chairs Limited. I lived your pain.
    I'm doing the bags now.

Unfortunately, I needed a vehicle that can tow my camper up to Canada after selling my Tundra during the pandemic. This is what was available that was close enough for them to deliver it to my home.

I took my 2008 Platinum to a highly recommended shop, looking to get new 33’s and a small lift up front. His suggestion, rip out the whole air system. He said I could do it in pieces, just the front and then do the back later, but he said most people end up ripping it out eventually. So I just went all in and did it all. Got the 2” lift I wanted, and this sequoia has never looked sexier! Doing a chrome delete today. That giant chrome grill has got to go! I can add pics later.

Keep your air bags! Tandem Off Road makes a spacer for the air bags. Get new shocks and presto, you can fit big ass tires. Do whatever in the front.

I'm gonna follow this thread as well. Just picked up a 2012 Platinum. Gonna get the Tandem Offroad spacers for the rear air, and trying to decide on front coils. Currently looking at the Icon or Toytec, I ran both previously on other Yotas, but also toying around with the Rough Country Vertyx Coilovers. I ran them on a Denali 1500 I had with a 6" lift for about a year and they were fantastic compared to the Kings I was running on my 4runner at the time.

that is what I was going to suggest... I just had a talk with Jonathan at Tandem, and he mentioned that he had Platinum and he had lifted it... You can text him directly at shop number.
