    $66,805 plus $1,695 destination = $68,500

And that's before all the distributor and dealer add-ons and markups of course.

That's well over $10k more than the 2021 TRD Pro crew max.

You can technically get a Raptor for less money, $65,315 + $1,695 destination = $67,070.

I really love it but I just don't see the value at $70k. Maybe for the rumored TRD desert chase truck but not the vanilla TRD pro.

Can't find the press release yet but both of these cover it:

The prices are really insane. It’s hard to justify the Tundra at that price. I am admittedly a Toyota fan boy but this new Tundra has me looking at other manufacturers.
I’m gonna hold on to my 2017 for quite a while.

I told my dealer that I’ve done a bunch of business with I want to spend about 58k on a supersonic red LTD Crewmax 4x4 with a hard bed cover and steps. Around here just a LTD Crewmax will show 68-70k with dealer markup and port installed bundles and most trucks are being sold in transit.

So I told them I know the market is insane right now so I’m not wasting their time when people are lining up to pay for 9k in bundled accessories and 4k in markup without a test drive. But I want them to know as a repeat customer I’m in the market so if anything changes they can let me know. I expect it’ll be awhile.

Timing was bad for this truck. Limited supply already, then more production cuts supposedly over COVID. Then people start hearing about the turbo issue. You start to wonder if it was a mistake not to push the Gen3 into 2023 and wait for things to calm down. Hardcore loyalists will pay 70k for trucks sight un-seen. Many others will be put off by the turbo glitch and other early hiccups and by the price and get into other more readily available half tons with field tested powertrains that aren’t marked up past the sticker price of a new Vette.

With my wife's encouragement I am keeping patient and focusing on the Toyota and waiting for things to calm down. But even though everybody has supply issues it is hard to ignore being able to walk onto a Ford Lot or a Ram lot and occasionally see configurations like I want sitting there ready to go.

Technically, yes but you won't. Raptor mark ups will make TRD mark ups look silly. I'm on about 3 waitlists for a 22' Raptor allocation and only one of them is even at MSRP. BUT to your point an equally optioned 35" 801A Raptor comes in about $10k higher, not assuming ADM. You are getting a lot more truck for that $10k in my opinion. Still Toyota's pricing is no different than the aggressive inflation every other OEM is doing. You can't get a Rebel, AT4, or Tremor for under $65k either.

After all that I was reading here and on the inter-web, I was figuring on the Pro being around the $72k mark. I will also be keeping my '18 Limited for a while. With what I have done to it, it is my faux Pro and does exactly what I need it to do. Besides, taking a $72k truck down a nasty, muddy, deer lease road just doesn't sit well with me. I keep thinking that the mud underneath would be enough to make the deployable front air dam get pretty forked up if you know what I mean!

Wow! that's almost $100k Cad here in Ontario Canada, with the conversion rate and sales tax. When the 2022 model was launched I was determined that I wanted to buy the hybrid, but due to needing a truck quickly I could not wait until it was released.
However at that price I am glad I ordered the SR5 TRD Sport now.

For these prices, I would get a different truck.

Funny, a few months ago while bored I looked up 2004-2007 GM 2500/3500 with the 8.1L and Allison 1000. I was surprised that there was still a good selection of trucks under 75k miles on them between 20-27k. I can buy a lot of gas for 50000.00

I gotta say that I kind of agree with the OP. No dog in the fight as I hope to never buy a truck again, but for fun I went and built a Raptor. Copied and pasted below. As I would want it built the Raptor would run $69,335. Less than a grand more than a Pro, but I think it'd off road twice as well. I also don't know that the Pro is really optioned out any better.

Hate to say this, but prices won't come down, nor will the logistic issue being solved this year, you are looking at the earliest of 2023 for somewhat resemblance of normal inventory.

I think in Canada it'll be 79,995 to 84,995 before HST, but yea, Capstone will be 100k after taxes.

Yep, I know. I think I will probably keep my eye on the Ram lots as we get into the Spring. The 8 speed has a lot of solid real world miles behind it and the 5.7 has been around for about 20 years now in some form. Scarce too but there are actually some out there. You can find them comparable to a 70K Tundra in the high 50s. Not a brand new platform with all these first year availability issues.

If towards the Spring I see a 4x4 Crewcab with leather and a moonroof in my color and the Tundra market remains every bit as insane by that point there is a strong chance I jump ship. Toyota already doesn't produce as many trucks while Domestics normally crank out close to a million a year. So with that extra capacity it would make sense Tundra availability will continue to be the worst all year long.

    I have an 01' 3500 with 8.1L and 4L80E with 60k on the clock, all miles towing a 10,000# 28' trailer.

I ordered a 2022 Tundra to replace it. I could really use some creature comforts, I don't even have cruise control or power windows.

I had a 2019 Rebel, the 8spd is definitely very very nice, and the interior I still think is better than new Tundra, just keep in mind a mid cycle update is coming for 2023MY, I think they will introduce the new Tornado 6cyl engine with it. (I would still get it with a 5.7 non e-torque

Uggh, that's the color and trim I want. When you option out a LTD 4x4 CM shortbed in my region and only add the panoramic moonroof it stickers for 57K and change but it will be months before I have a realistic chance of finding it and possibly a year before I can get it close to that price. Haven't seen that color yet at all and everything shows up with a take it or leave it bundle of port installed accessories and ADM.

Oooof. Yeah, I’m tempted to sell my truck, make some money (or at least break even), and buy something around $25k cheaper. A friend of mine has a 2009 Sierra 2500 with the Duramax. It’s deleted and tuned. Great truck. My grandpa would sell me his 2000 F350 SWR shortbed with the 7.3L diesel for cheap. It’ll rattle the teeth out of your head, but it’s a great truck, too.

I don’t need a diesel, though. To be honest, a well cared for 2010 Tundra with 250k+ miles would be fine. And I could invest the $25k I’d get back from my truck. My kids are young enough, that $25k could pay for at least most of their college educations when it comes time. HMMMMM…:monocle:

Again, not to beat a dead horse here but those prices are moot. Add about $10-20k ADM anywhere you look for a Raptor, 95% of are already out of allocations OR have a wait list 25-50+ people deep on a truck they only see 4-5 units PER year. If you aren't on a wait list now for a Raptor you aren't getting one until 2023 or longer unless you want to pay $100k for one. I would know, I'm waiting at 3 different dealers and called across 5-6 states.

Don't want to derail the thread but the point is let's hope Toyota goes about this a bit smarter. At this day in time a loaded TRD Pro at $68k IF you can get one at MSRP AND in the next 6 months is a good deal. If you (general forum) don't think it is clearly haven't tried to buy any new truck recently in this segment...

This will be another 10-plus year vehicle for me. Toyota was the only make I was willing to roll the dice on new tech with no track record. If I am getting a Ram I want the 5.7/8 speed.

If I had the money to not care about reliability I’d get a Raptor over the Tundra all day. Just my 2 cents

$70K half tons are here to stay, not just Toyota. And why I purchased a low miles used truck vs new. Out the door I paid well less than half of that price.

No $70k trucks or vehicles in my future anytime unless I win Lotto

a grey CM rock warrior on 35s, I always liked how they look.

I think the funniest story is how people actually fought over a Yukon on the lot.

I can find plenty of Fords, Rams and Dodge Crew CAbs for 50 give or take a couple grand. Deep into the 40s if you go smaller engine or more basic model. Leather and Nav related bundles are what make it hard to stay well below 70K right now. They tend to come bundled with other stuff and the chips required for higher end options probably help create that spread. Difference with domestics is it's often possible to take a mid grade model and put a couple key options on it if you special order. As we know Tundras don't work that way. Also now the big 3 offer multiple engine options to help get you into the lower price range depending on your needs.

Just a couple hours ago I was looking at a well optioned F150 4x4 5.0 Lariat with an MSRP of 54K and a 3K dealer markup. Only thing missing I would've wanted is the panoramic moonroof. In normal times I could probably drive that truck off the lot for 50K and probably would be able to again in about 6 months. Being that the V6s are so popular now I'm actually going to be keeping an eye on it to see how long it sits there.

Everyone focuses on the dealer but the reality is that people willing to pay this are the ones to blame. If I decide to sell my house and someone offers to give me an extra $10K, am I at fault? No.

Moot.... Not sure it means what you think it does, or if you're using that word correctly.

Anyway, the mark ups will be on the Pros as well, so the direct MSRP to MSRP comparison is valid. Who knows what the production on the Pro will be. It may be just as bad a wait. I thought the $68.5K Pro was the base price and it was going to go up from there? Even if it's not, they have price it (MSRP) at the same level as the Raptor that is better optioned(see BSM), has a track record, and would eat it's lunch in most scenarios. The only thing Toyota has is their reputation of reliability long term. I know many are not 100% on this because of the turbo issues and such, but I think they'll get it ironed out and it will be at least as reliable as the Ecoboosts have been, if not more so.

Overall, pricing the truck the same as diesels that will work harder and the Raptor that will play harder... I think Toyota is making a mistake.
