If you look at him, it's pretty easy to tell he's a lumbersexual hipster and his shops probably cater to those types. We have one in my town and a haircut is $30+. Most of the lumbersexual and metrosexual hipsters usually go in for beard products and services as well. They'll be pushing $100 by the time the clippings settle.

Two things I'm looking to do asap. 1 air filter upgrade/ k&n filter or cold air intake. 2 exhaust/ flow master or Gibson . Any know if the old gen air filter works or the Tacoma 3.5L?

Thanks you, @GO.XPLRE , for the URL.

Covid and SC shortage - no mention of the waste gate issue as a possible plant slowdown (and that's more SC quality issue related rather than shortage).

Tell you what - if I had the time and energy, I'd contact the staff writer from the San Antonio Express News and ask him to spend a few hours on the FB pages and Tundra forums, learn about these issues, put on his "investigative reporter" hat, then head back to the San Antonio plant folks with an array of hardball questions. Stand outside the plant gates and ask the factory line workers too. That'll get some attention!!

Yep, unfortunately it seems to be a trend now to simply blame everything on "covid issues" to get a pass. Not saying this is what Toyota is doing, but there is a guy on the FB with the wastegate issue that said yesterday that his dealer told him that they are halting production to get the turbo fiasco figured out, not sure if there's any truth to what the dealership told him or how they'd know, but.....you don't know until you know.

Are you aware that the K&N air filters are not good for your engine? It's not like they'll destroy an engine immediately, but they let more crap by. Not so sure I'd be doing that to such a complicated engine.

^^^This. K&N and other oiled air filters are trash and will eventually ruin sensors. A cold air intake that uses a dry filter is a much safer bet, albeit still a waste of money since cold air intakes don't really add any more horsepower to modern engines. They just give you a placebo effect by adding a bunch of intake noise.

Case in point: My Challenger T/A 392 came with a cold air intake (with reusable dry filter) fed through a functional hood scoop as part of that T/A option package. It was still rated at the same 485hp as the regular Scat Pack with an enclosed air box and non ram air scoop. All the cold air/hood scoop combo gave me was some extra intake noise and the joyful chore of having to constantly wash bugs and leaves out of the filter.

I wish I had time today to stop and ask questions. I just saw Toyota has something going on at the County Fairgrounds parking lot in the snow by my house. They had four 2022 tundras, 2 slightly older ones, a couple 4runner TRD off-roads. But there were also a couple new Dodge Rams and Chevys as well. All had green plates. Aren’t green plates manufacture plates?

Yes. You saw them by the entrance gate off 38.

As I came back around later they were already driving out towards peck road then turned right going north.

I believe it - just asked my sales guy about the status of my build which originally was supposed to be built 2/9 now slipped to 2/15 and will probably slip again.

If your 2/9 build date has slipped, then for certain I'm sure my 2/8 build date has slipped as well.

And frankly, given all the waste gate, supply chain and covid issues, that's okay by me.

Measure twice, cut once, Toyota - build the truck right the first time please.

OnTheLake and 21TundraSR5 thanks, I've always run K&N and never had issues. I know two things that help turbo cars: air flow and exhaust. What products do you guys recommend? Thanks again

Way back in the day, I maintained my friends then-new Honda Prelude. He always had me change the oil at 3000 miles. One day we installed a air intake system on it with a k&n oiled cone filter. Every oil change after that the oil was much darker at 3000 miles than before. Living in Phoenix we could only surmise the k&n was letting in the dust through somewhat larger openings in the filter media.

I'm not a self proclaimed expert, just my observation.

With the new Tundra having 12 fuel injectors, air/water intercooler and turbos, personally I'd be inclined to just leave the air filter stock, or at least be careful when selecting a "performance" alternative. I wouldn't want to gum up all that extra plumbing with excess dirt, dust, oil, grime.

That is a great explanation of it. You changed my mind and absolutely agree. I'll keep it stock or go with the trd filter that Toyota sells.

Yes, really good point. That's why I always tell people (if they listen) that, with a performance filter, you're going to be sacrificing your filtering power

Has anyone got a truck from south east Toyota? My truck was allocated to my dealer since it was built in early November with delivery around the end of December. I put my deposit down December 10th was told 15 to 20 days. I still have not received the truck dealer says it’s been sitting at port since January 1st. Nobody knows why. No package add one just the basic sr crew max 4x4.

I've run both wet and dry filters for quite a while. Interesting to note Toyota has there version as option for the Tundra.

Have not noted any major issues or concerns with any of our cars. I am pretty focused with checking/cleaning filters twice a year. Spring/Fall.

My dealer has gotten several (in SE Toyota) One just arrived yesterday (platinum) with an early December build date. I'd want to see the build date on a screen shot to verify. If you have a VIN where the last 6 digits are all numbers then it has been built. It seems dealers have a huge variety of stories explaining why the delay. No one knows the real reasons (including the dealers.)
