I pre-ordered a tundra SR5 at the dealership the other day, I said I just wanted to get a truck at MSRP, they said ok, it could be delivered in March or April, then I was in the middle of a few sheets with the vehicle info printed I chose a truck, paid 500$, and only got a receipt without any information about the vehicle I ordered. I left the few pieces of paper for the truck I chose. I'm curious, does this guarantee I'll get the truck and price I want? Inquiries went unanswered. So I want to ask, what do you guys get when you pre-order? Do you sign an agreement?

    I put down 2 deposits.
Place #1 I sat with the sales manager and added some warranties. And signed. He gave me the papers of the agreed invoice. And I left.

Place #2 sat down with just a sales guy. He brought over a build with some add on I wanted. We agreed on the prices. He went back to sales manager and said it's done. May take 3 to 4 months. No paperwork for me on that one.

I'm in a unique situation as my family member worked for the factory. So I am getting it at cost plus $800. So I know what the price is for me.

I don’t have a 22 but when I pre ordered my 21 pro it was essentially putting my name on the allocation to the vehicle from the factory. I also left with nothing but the word of my sales person. After a few weeks I started to get curious and I would periodically get updates as the dealership got them but it was a slow process. Luckily I bought from a dealership that sold only at msrp but through out the process I wondered if they would add a market adjustment ( I got mine before the covid craziness started) but they were true to there word and sold it to me at msrp.

Long story short, I did not sign an agreement only left with a receipt of my 500 dollar deposit on a 21

I Left with the build sheet (which had the temp VIN, etc) and my receipt of the $1000 deposit I made.

Over the next 8 weeks I got emails and texts 3x week from my sales guy and/or the auction manager who was managing the buyback of my 2015 CrewMax which they allowed me to drive while honoring that agreed upon “trade-in” price

Did any of you ask your salesman what is the current status of the turbo wastegate issue and will it affect the "tentative" delivery date before you gave your deposit??? Did your salesman bring up the turbo wastegate issue at all?

When I did my transaction (in November) that wasn’t something on the radar as they were yet to deliver…so it didn’t apply in my situation.

I would want a signed agreement from the dealership on OTD price. I requested one when purchasing my 2019 before putting a deposit down.

That's certainly understandable. Lots of new 22 owners are having no issues at all. It will get worked out.

I put down a $500 deposit for a black on black - Limited 4X4 with the TRD Off-Road package and pano roof. I got a receipt with those exact options listed in the description. Non-refundable.

Spoke to dealer today and he mentioned that IF this next February allocation has that combination, that I’m next in line to receive it. He said Toyota may add additional features to it and that they don’t have control over what’s sent to them. The only thing they control is their dealer add ons (Tint, protection, etc.)

Gave card over phone back in October b4 price was released.

When online Toyota site builder was up I told dealer what I wanted built, then they told me what they could get from Toyota that was close to what I wanted.

    expect delivery 2/7-2/14

You just need to go over to the Ford Bronco forum and read those posts on pre-ordering .

Long story short, unless both parties sign something that indicates the final price of the truck….. and this isn’t the MSRP….. then when the truck arrives at the dealership they can charge you whatever they want.

Just remember, even doing this doesn’t 100% guarantee this is the price you will get. People dislike dealers for a reason after all.

Thank you for your replies, it seems that I can only evaluate the integrity of the dealers later

So if you don't agree on the price and addons, you lose $500?

I left a deposit in early December and haven’t heard a word from them and couldn’t get any type of eta.

I put deposit back in October b4 price was released, was told “4,5,6, months we will call you”
Dealer is stuck with whatever Toyota gives them.

I placed order for lunar rock RAV-4 hybrid 2 weeks ago. Dealer told me at least 9 months!!!!

In my experience I was supposed to have a mid grade SR5 TRD and by the time my truck was spit out of the line the VIN changed and I got a base SR5 TRD. I didn’t get the heated steering wheel or console safe like I was originally supposed to get. There was something else but I can’t remember. I could have said no, but I stayed with it since the price was adjusted and I’m impatient.
