    Afternoon all,

I’d like to be posting in the new members page, but I don’t have a new truck to report yet, still a lowly Tacoma driver.

My question is related to QA holds. The truck I have a down payment on (2022 Tundra Platinum 4x4, 6.5ft Bed) has been built, but hasn’t left the factory cause it’s on a QA hold. Of course the dealership tells me it’s just a random selection and doesn’t mean anything is wrong with it. But I wanted to see if anyone here knows more about this.

Anyone have any experience or information on factory QA holds on new builds?

Shoot, I was hoping someone would have insight into this. Not sure if I should be trusting the dealer.

    Per another member

@Lextoys said - Had my 4runner in for an oil change this morning and asked my service advisor about the new Tundra. He said they've had 6 come in and all were spoken for. Also said all 6 have come back with transmission and turbo problems. He said Toyota is slowing/stopping delivery until they have all current issues figured out. Also said to expect delay in hybrid release until non-hybrid issues are sorted. I know that's anecdotal and I don't expect that he's "dialed in", but take it for what it's worth.

My 2021, that I put money down on early October made it up to the rail head the first week of November. Then it was put on a quality assurance hold, that turned into a stop sale due to the power steering recall. I’ve been told the truck is still in the rail yard and I still don’t have it. Just saying......

Good luck and don’t hold your breath.

Dang man, that sucks. This sure is a frustrating time to try to get a vehicle.

Frustrating time for sure. My 22 has been pushed a few weeks - a month from original expectation. I would rather have a car maker hold a veh or stop sales for QA than just ignore it & sell / ship it if it has a known issue, & then try to avoid responsibility.
I know there will be feedback about the turbo issue & check engine stuff yet still being sold, but as far as it seems, Toyota is actively trying to source fixes on a few so they can push resolutions out to dealers. Those on hold may be part of the known run/builds that had the bad turbo batch so are going to be fixed before final shipping to dealers, I hope.

Any update on how long the QA hold ending up taking? My capstone was built on the 2nd of May and put on a QA hold at port. I'm hoping I'm not having to wait more than a week or so for it to come and get to the dealership.

For what it’s worth, my 2021 was on “stop sale” QA hold from early Nov. 2021 to March 8th 2022 when I took delivery on my “new” Tundra.

Saturday i had my sales rep look thru dealer daily (too see if my reserve request was picked up) and i saw a 1794 still sitting at the rail arrival status since nov-2021 and its allocated to a customer. hate to be that customer.

What area? The 1794 Tundra I reserved was built in early December 2021 and has been at the rail in Princeton, IN for QC Hold. It was finally scheduled to arrive by yesterday, but the recall for the PVM was issued, and Toyota put it on hold another 31 days. I traded in my 2021 TRD Pro Tundra early, and took a loaner from the dealership with the anticipation the hold would be released sooner than later. That was over two months ago! I’m very disappointed in how this is being handled, pandemic excuses or not!

If the hold is safety related, NHTSA is involved and Toyota has very little control, however Toyota doesn’t communicate with customers or dealerships worth beans. And absolutely no follow up explanations.

The dealership asked Toyota to proceed with the scheduled delivery and let the service department perform the recall, but they refused.

I took my 22' 1794 in yesterday for the 2nd time for an AC related issue. There was a leak in the evaporator coil and its on a worldwide back order. So I was put in a loaner hybrid corolla. I'm hoping my capstone is taken off hold soon. It apparently arrived at port yesterday where they'll do the inspection. They gave the dealership an ETA of June 1st, which per my dealer is usually a worst case scenario ETA. Either way its frustrating for both me and the dealer. They cant sell my trade in until the part comes in in several months, and I'm in a corolla lol.
