Here's one from a couple of weeks ago.

I built this bathroom/shed about 20 years ago and it needed a little help because of sprinkler caused dry rot and a bit of termite damage. Since we were getting our yard overhauled, now was the time for a bit of TLC.
    IMG_20211203_083625337_HDR~2.jpg

Off with the old, damaged, siding and on with some new T111. Cut off the wood front porch and repaired a bunch of dry root around the door frame and lower siding. Also built the little paver/brick porch to match the work we had done in the yard.

Lol... I usually still just go out by the boat to pee. Why waste the water for a flush, I guess.

put up the fencing around the pool saturday with my brother n dad. it was in upper 20s/lower 30s when we finally went out to start with about 15-25mph winds at points. now i've got some sinus issues from it. at least its 95% done. i gotta order 1 more post, flange to mount to concrete, anchors, and a gate latch.

Got the fence put up between pool and back porch so we can be outside without worrying about the littles running towards the pool. Hired this one out too from "Protect-A-Child" fence company.

Couldn't find a barn door that was tall enough for the opening so built one to separate the master bed and bathroom. Plywood and MDF for the door. Amazon for the rail, guide, and handle. Came out pretty good

Does anyone have a recommendation for an under the kitchen sink water filter? I dont think our water is really bad (not hard or bad tasting), we drink water from the fridge dispenser 99% of the time, but i keep cold brew and diet coke in our kegerator on tap and just use water from the faucet.
I'd like to get some sort of a filter in there, not really wanting to go the RO route, just something simple (not utilizing a separate drinking water faucet) and something that filters don't cost more than the starter kit.
I looked for Rex's water quality post, but i guess he got the boot. Amazon reivews are all over the place, lol

I've installed 2 of these at work, one for the ice machine and the other on the coffee maker. Seem to work fine and the replacements aren't terribly expensive.

    Thanks, Gonna look into this.
I'm worried about loss of pressure from these for the kitchen sink....doubt you would notice anything with it being on an icemaker and coffee maker.....

I've got a Moen at home. I really like it, though I can't speak to the cost as it was there when we moved in 3 years ago. I have replaced the filters a couple times. They are only like 40$ and I do it once a year.

So I just ordered a expensive lock n lube set up, supposedly from Germany but every other lock n lube I’ve seen is from India. This one uses no push rod nor spring to force the grease(partially why it makes such a mess at the top end) so I’ll see how it works out!

Uses 3/8 line so you shouldn't notice much pressure drop.

I noticed alot of grease guns were from India as well. While i do feel better about it than china, i paid the extra for the austrailian and i was not dissappointed. Its all in the QC.

i think we got a resident AC guy in here. If not....I'm sure someone is fairly knowledgeable to give me some insight.
We're thinking of putting a mini split system for our upstairs bonus area. it isn't used much right now. once our kids are older, it will be their play area. It is AC'd through the central unit, but I feel like it struggles. The AC guys/buddies that service our house say that running a single unit on both an upstairs and downstairs area at the same time doesn't work as well as most people want. Apparently I'm one of those people.:notsure:. It's 600 sqft and I'll prob put a barn door on the landing to the upstairs to block it off and shut off/remove the vents to that room. A couple people said with my DIY skills, I could knock it out. I'd prob pay someone to run the electricity though. Any thoughts on something like this? (link below)
    Constructive criticism/hate/insults/etc are all welcome.

If you have the electrical ran, I think everything else should be straight forward and you could do it. If the unit doesn't come pre-charged, have you AC service guys do it and save some $$ doing the install yourself.

I've wired in several of these over the years. Looks like this one is the plug and play version for your line set. You'll need to get as close of a length as you can without shorting yourself.
The wiring is easy, get a little 240v disconnect and whip to the outside unit. Then the black cable zip ties to the line set and runs the indoor unit.

You could probably do it yourself, just keep in mind that most HVAC companies do not want to touch those things down the road if it takes a dive. I don't know the quality of Mr. Cool, but i do know that Mitsubishi's are much more reliable, and if installed by a reputable company have a 10 year warranty, or 12 year if they are a "Diamond" dealer. I don't know how easy Mr. Cool is to get parts for either, where a name brand would be easier to get parts (barring shortages). To answer your question, yes i think you could do it. However if you wanted a longer lasting solution, I would pony up and pay someone to put a name brand in.

From what I've seen about the Mr. Cool units is they're a pretty solid choice. They're apparently a rebadged Gree Flexx unit, whether that's good or bad I don't know.

Service advising over the phone is decent if you purchase them from Ingrams, not so much if purchased someplace else.

So I'll be running for the upstairs, which is this portion. Running down means I'd have to run it along this and back by the pool pumps and generator. It seems like a long ways, and most I'm seeing max out around 25'. Which now makes me wonder if I'd want to consider mounting up there on the wall. Definitely in my last resort if so. Either way I'd have to run it a decent way. My electrical panel is on the back of that garage space above the generator and all. I agree going with a more reputable brand would prob be safer in the aspect of longevity, service, parts, etc.

I hard wired my entire house with Ethernet drops in each room and basement. I procrastinated so long in this. I knew how much of a great big pain in the ass it was going to be, but it’s done now. Now I have drywall patching and repainting….

Also if you go with a more reputable brand, you can run a longer line set than 25' because at that point it wouldn't be a pre charged line set. You would have to pull a vacuum on the line to evacuate it, but running a longer line means you wouldn't have to look at it up on your wall when you're in the pool. I know it would bug me because it would be a focal point.
