WTF is this, Google Maps? Blur, blur, blur.

Ah! You get the Bosch Icons also? I've been using for a few years now and I seriously f'n love the damn things. I've posted about them a few times now, like back here. I think PHM ended up buying a pair based on the suggestion, installed, then I heard him talking a month or two later about wanting something else, so not everyone loves 'em.

But I'll be damned, everyone else I know that's bought the Icons love them. Great beam wipers.

Hey y'all since I got boned out of installing my 130A alternator this weekend, I figured I'd ask for sake of my brain isn't fucking working after having 8 single-digit aged boys all up in my shit today (bday party).

I'm aiming for next weekend, along with my serpentine belt (Gates HD green). Not knowing what tensioners/pulleys have been done on this 72k mile truck, anything else I should bother with up front, proactively? I usually wait until concrete evidence of issues with this stuff, but my ignorance of the 2UZ-FE stuff lends me to ask.

I'd typically just spin all the pulley/tensioner with the belt out to listen for bearing issues, but if there's something typical that would go bad that's just worth swapping, I'll do it if it's not an extra hour of work.

Wipe em clean at every car wash or every other month. 303 them after. But more than anything buy quality wipers, the extra coin typically translates to some longevity, quality, and/or both.

I buy the cheapest wipers I can get through work. They're about $8 for the pair. I change them every six to nine months. No maintenance in between. Takes 60 seconds.

Conversely, I have PIAA silicones on the 911. They're two years in and work like brand new. (Yes, it does get driven in rain. No it does not get driven in snow/salt.)

I just did my belt Saturday. My idler and tensioner pulleys needed replacement but I have 220,000 on this truck. That belt is not fun to change if you don’t have help. Next time I will drop the skid plate so I can get to the crank pulley easier.

My skid plate is off so that's a bonus... but I'm curious why it was tough? With the right tools, it's a 10-minute affair. But don't take my word for it, here's some proof. I have a serpentine belt kit which makes it easier to get the leverage, but 3/4" copper tubing on a ratchet works fine, and if you want the wrenches used in this video to make it simple, there's multiple used full sets on fleaBay for $95 (search for: 304322354456). I may run down today and lift to check the idler pulley, but I'm definitely curious whether there's a typical "may as well do XYZ pulley while in there" for the 2UZ-FE

It might be 10 minutes for someone that has been wrenching for 20 years bit it's certianly not 10 minutes for someone like me. Even with the radiator out of the way I had to study the belt diagram a few minutes before it clicked.

$110/shipped and you can have your own set from this seller just north of me in Commerce, GA. :D

When I was a younger man, I used to poke fun at ratcheting wrenches. I've come to really, really love using them now. They're super efficient, and mine have stood the test of time.

I am convinced jeep xj engineers had stock in ratcheting wrench stock. Designed and built to NEED those expensive buggers.

I should probably mention I have a set of Craftsman ratcheting wrenches also. The CMans have flex heads, but aren't reversible. They barely get used over the Bluepoints that are fixed head and reversible.

    I have one of those.
    It's a 21/22mm used for a very specific purpose when I was a tech...that presently eludes me.

That’s an edited video. Getting that belt around the crank pulley working from the top is a bitch. I have the tools, access is the issue.

So has anyone who uses Microsoft Teams figured out how to stay active or 'available' when you're not?

Apparently some people on my so called team are doing this to everyone and, well, I'd like to check it out. :D

I've never used Teams, but long ago used Microsoft Office Communicator. In the settings there was an option for how long it takes for your green bubble to go yellow, I think max was one hour.

The trick back then was set that to an hour and turn off your monitors to go hang out with friends. Anybody who sees your monitors will assume you are off or keyboard is locked, anybody who pings you thinks you're working and too busy to respond.
