Yes my 2022 has this. Even at the darkest setting the lights cycle on and off in the shadows of the trees. This morning I drove to town with a clear sky and the sun up for over an hour and a half (sun glasses required) the lights cycle on and off from the tree shadows. It’s too sensitive. It is so bright this morning. I don't understand why the lights would come on at 9:30 in the morning in the shade. 2018 was perfect.

I think I notice this a lot more than others because of the area I live. Its a mix between farmers fields and forests on the hills. My 6 mile trip this morning had it cycle over 10 times.

Maybe the angle of the sun? Located in Canada it is low at this time of year. Not like Texas.

I wish I had an “off” switch or better programming of the software (that’s a trend I see with this 2022 - not sure who comes up with the programming criteria). Again, the 2018 worked as it should.

There’s said to be a computer update coming. Be curious to see what that changes. That sounds like those settings aren’t working on yours.

I see you are in Canada. When I look through the 2022 catalogue from Toyota.ca it says like you mentioned that the SR5 TRD OFF ROAD (what I have on order) comes with the auto dimming mirror. But a video I watched from my dealership of the same trim did not show it on that truck. Also, your trim "limited TRD OFF ROAD" definitely has the auto dimming mirror listed. so if you did not get one, you should be asking the dealer what is going on... and then let us know!

    Canadian trucks:
SR5 / SR5 Off Road CrewMax 5.5 box has auto dimming rear view mirror
SR5 / SR5 Off Road CrewMax 6.5 box (my truck) has NO auto dimming rear view mirror
Verified with dealership and on line with Toyota.ca

Limited Off Road has the auto dimming rear view mirror.

If you want to add an auto dimming mirror part number 87810-0WS20. Lists for $CDN 1,114.10 used on newer LandCruiser. Hmmm. Same platform?

I still need to pull out the manual mirror out to see if its plug and play. Hoping the socket is there. Need warmer weather so I don't break any plastic when I check.

so sorry, my apologies, I misread and assumed you had a limited, but I see now you have SR5 CM long box. that does suck, but still - the video from my dealership that showed my same trim TRD OFF ROAD CM SR5 Regular box - showed to my eye no auto dimming mirror, I hope I'm wrong, but will see, at least in my case I can go back to the brochure and say it's missing. sorry on your end, that would be frustrating.

That looks like a manual mirror. Hmmm. The buttons are on the bottom now, not as visible from the front. Maybe no Homelink just auto dim?

Brochures state auto dim and home link together. Maybe this was a weird accident on this unit. I will see when mine eventually shows up. But curious to see.

Been looking at any and all pictures I can on TRD OFF Road. Doesn’t matter bed length. Sr5 here in Canada is looking like basic rear view mirror and not auto dimming. I wonder if we have a leg to stand on since it is listed in the brochure?

    Nope. Google Toyota allocation.

This isn’t about allocation. All the SR5 tundras in regular box, are listed in the brochure from Toyota as having the auto dimming mirror with home link. We don’t get to pick and choose options in Canada. We get a trim and what is included in that trim here.

I’m guessing the premium led headlights include auto limiting.

“The 2022 Tundra is a Game Changer”… no ... it might be a Brand Changer for me (not in a good way for Toyota)

I am getting such a hate-on for this truck its all related to how the propeller heads programmed it. Only had it for 3 weeks.

Background: I have 4 Tundras before this truck. I use my truck as a commuter to the shop, as well as a parts pick up vehicle. When on the road I will listen to group texts through the vehicle on what is happening in the shop (schedules, problems, questions, etc..) and I would reply using Siri. Can’t do the same anymore. I could scroll through the last 12 messages before to listen to job numbers and what the problem was. Now I get the last message (which is usually “k”). Click on messages and wants to send a message, not read the last 2 or 5 or 10. Plus all the other bed light and remote start quirks. And the screen locks up asking for a PIN and you to set up an account every trip.

For what I need it to do it is unable to do it now. That is a game changer for me and trying to run a business. No issues in the 2018.

Funny thing is I swear (not Sweer) at the truck under my breath and the microphone picks it up. Frinken POS Tunda comes back with “How may I help you”. I reply I want to buy a Ford. It says “You need to subscribe for navigation”

Mechanically I am not a fan of the V6 but that’s they way we are going. Suck it up butter cup. I am not concerned about Turbo issues – its mechanical. And pulling a cab off is a regular thing for our F350 trucks to service a turbo. The chassis is the same set-up as my FJ Cruiser (struts and 5-link), just bigger and no tow hooks. The CrewMax and 6.5 configuration is perfect! My favorite feature on this 2022 Tundra is the DAC/CRAWL and locking rear axle. But no tow hooks?

I did not even drive this truck at the beginning of the week because I was concerned if I got stuck in the 20” of snow there is no way to pull me out. Took the old FJ instead. I was in the Toronto area where the highway tractors were stuck in the middle of the main 12 lane highway through the city. Front end loaders were pulling the trucks out using their TOW HOOKS.

Fuel Mileage on first 3 tanks (it has been cold -20C (-4F) , and I pulled a trailer on the third tank). Not “Game Changer”. The other guys here with ecoboost F150’s are doing better than me.

    13.94 l/100 (16.87 mpg)

    15.06 l/100 (15.62 mpg)

    16.02 l/100 (14.68 mpg)

Our Chevy diesels have been doing around 11-12 l/100

Mechanically and how the 2022 looks I’m OK with. It pulls a trailer great! Programming SUCKS! I guess this is how it would be if Apple built cars.

It’s like owning a pretty titanium laser etched glow in the dark water proof smart phone with unbreakable glass that has been programmed only to accept 7 digits to make a call. Who needs area codes? You will never use them.

If Toyota continues to use this stupid logic to program all their vehicles I’m done buying anything new from them. I have had brand loyalty to Toyota for years. Yet if this the trend I’m out.

HEY TOYOTA. UPDATE THE SOFTWARE TO SOMETHING THAT WORKS. ASK REAL CUSTOMERS! THEN DON'T TRY TO MAKE IT "BETTER" - LEAVE IT ALONE!

I am regretting buying a 2022 over a 2021 right now for my needs. I would probably like the 2022 if they can program it to work and work as a truck. Hoping Toyota can get with it. Add a couple tow hooks while you are in fix it mode.

When it's -20, I get 25L/100 km city and maybe about 14-15 highway, depending on how long I let my truck warm up before setting out on my 40 km commute.

I am about the same, 45km each way. Not much stop and go. The 5.7 would be around 16.5 l/100 in the cold for my trip.

Not trying to be a shit, I get it if you’re just venting but, if you legit regret it, there are many wanting it so it is desirable. You are in GTA so go here & grab your 2021 Platinum if it helps. I debated it but wanted some of the newer tech.

Sounds like you made a mistake. I'd be looking to sell and get back into a V8.

Too bad, Newmarket has a double cab 2020 I think with only 8k mileage as well. It’s been there for a bit so may get it a tad cheaper than asking
($55k ish) I think salesman let it slip to me it’s listed over what it cost new sadly, but if you could get a grand or 2 off maybe?

Mechanically I can live with a V6. I liked the V8 better. Unfortunately turbos and electric are the direction vehicles are going. The wife owns an electric car yet we see the limitations in winter / cold weather. I believe the hybrid will fill that void of power when the turbos spool up and will feel closer to a V8 power delivery. And it will also fill up your under seat storage.

If you are a fan of a V8 scoop one up when you can. I will build a “shop truck” with a 5.7 and supercharger once used truck prices start to drop.

My BIG issue and most of my gripes is a radio that locks up after 5 minutes and does not do what the previous models could do. That is not an improvement.

If Toyota reprograms the software in this truck correctly it will be what it should have been when I picked it up.

Some days I think I need to spend money to upgrade from my Bluetooth device that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Then, I read something like this and think maybe I won’t.
