I had mine in to the dealer for oil a little while ago. That's when they pulled my floor mat and left me a nanny note about how it isn't allowed b/c it doesn't secure to the floor with the retaining ring. Which I then thought, WTF toyota, if you would sell me a rubber floor mat I would buy the damn thing. I guess that's not really their problem?

They only use brine around here. And it usually rains right before it snows so it all washes away. But I usually go get the underbody wash at a car wash afterwards, one of the few times I don't wash it myself

This is actually an urban hipster fashion thing, IMO, coming from someone who's been living deep in a hipster city for some time now. Google for shorts and crew socks. You'll see a bazillion examples.

Or even worse than hipsters in crew socks, entire families from the 'burbs wearing these f'n Oakley cheezballs. Hair highlights spiked with gel for extra bonus points.

Haha! Credit to Kenny Powers for the Oakley trend coming back. See lot of kids on the baseball field with mullets and Oakleys! Good to know some parents have a sense of humor I guess

They were getting really particular about that, all coming down from corporate a few years back. Remember all the nonsense and lawsuits around accelerator pedals getting stuck, and people running into things at full speed to their death? Nearly all due to floor mat creep.

IIRC, they were paying out small sums at first, $5mil-10mil lawsuit near the turn of the 1st decade, I think? Last I saw Toyota was paying out more than a billion in a mass-settlement. Don't think I ever saw the final number, I remember 1.6bil, 1.1bil, 1.4bil all being tossed around over the years.

Yep, the cause is clear, people are too stupid to drive without a mat secured to the floor.

RayBan Aviators for life. I'm on my 3rd pair since 2008. Always chrome lenses, always polarized. #mirrors
(no one else in the fam wears them)

I used to have to wear over-the-calf tube socks with shorts for a job...to cover the tattoos on my leg. Funny thing about white socks over white flesh covered in black ink. The tattoos show right through. After a few of my regulars asked my boss why I had to wear that dumb shit, they let it go.

Jeebus. Yeah, I wish I had that much separation between stuff. Is that a portrait of Ian next to the Out of Step sheep? It stands out to me, super solid greywash work on that one.

That shit is made by the devil himself. They do the exact same thing here. Friday they sprayed the road with brine. Saturday it rained for hours before it turned to snow so I'm pretty sure the brine was a waste of tax dollars.

The 'portrait' on the front of the leg is a piece from an art book. My friend Jeron (who did a large majority of my tattoos) saw it and thought of me. It's titled something to the effect of 'tempting the devil'. The 'person' has horns like a devil/demon and is sitting in front of an unopened bottle and an upside down shot glass. He said it was me to a T. :D
I have a very fancy plaque from a national tattoo convention for that one. Best B&W. He learned from a guy named Monte. Monte did my Michael Jackson portrait, which I also have some hardware for. No taking pics of that one today tho as I wore jeans to work.

There's more. I only want to get so naked at work. (more about my coworkers' delicate sensibilities than my modesty)
    Both thighs done
Left arm from shoulder to wrist
Whole back from collar to bottom of cheeks
Nothing that can be seen when dressed for a wedding/funeral/job interview

    ...yet.
I keep thinking about doing my other arm and then both hands. I'm in my mid-40s and haven't been held back by tattoos yet. Now that I've moved away from office culture, there's little reason to not do my hands...aside from working on cars & trucks and the toll that takes.
Absolutely will not do neck or face. No fucking way.

If anybody comes across a black center cluster for a 4x4, let me know. Mine has a bunch of broken off tabs, and sucks.

Black or charcoal? I don't think I've seen black interior in a first gen yet.

Black. The center cluster's are either wood grain or black in the ones I've seen. I'm cutting back on the wood grain

Cheaper just to swap the controls over. 70% positive my part numbers are probably different from your truck, but I managed the center bezel upgrade to wood (and still have the old bezel in my possession) for around $180 ($425 to wood grain everything), which I documented it over here: https://www.tundras.com/threads/wha...t-gen-tundra-today.2558/page-702#post-1851043

Probably cheaper if you're looking to get rid of wood. It is NOT a fun process to swap the face over. I'm shocked I didn't break any plastics in the process.

Yeah, I did the controls swap, worked fine for me, but my controls were in good condition.

That's important. And I see where I said "Easier", I should've said "Cheaper". Definitely easier to buy a pre-assembled center console, as long as it's paired up with compatible controls. Finding compatible controls is a royal PITA.
