So, had a local owned shop with a good rep give me a quote for some work. Had them quote the following-Window tint, install backup camera, install alarm, install trailer wiring and trailer brake controller I own. I need the tint and want an alarm, but was just curious what they would come in at. Called me back yesterday and told me it would be 2k, was a bit surprised. Said the alarm was 900, a compustar. Windows 200, and then kind of trailed off breaking it down for me. Then he said it was 10 hours of labor. Guess I'll be doing it all myself. they did happen to have some cool stuff getting worked on:

I don't ever think I could ever do my own tint seeing how poorly some others do it with all the bubbling.

That sounds low, so that means low quality tint.

That doesn't sound terrible honestly. It's all detail work if you want it done right and most shops here are $100+/hr. Last alarm/starter I did used a t harness (which as far as I'm aware isn't available for these trucks) and it took me about 4 hours to get everything done and pretty.

3m ceramic on the front, I think the sides are something middle of the road. This is a friend doing it out of the back of his shop. I think I will pass on the alarm all together. I'm capable of running the camera and doing the trailer lighting. 400 sounds better than 2k.

I agree with Fester here, though I think the alarm is a little pricey. Alarms really depend on what options it's coming with, really. There's basic good quality $200 alarms and there's loaded $1000 alarms.

$200 for tint is superb pricing. The shop I worked for charged $50/full window and $25 for a head strip on the windshield, and that was 20ish years ago. Prices haven't changed much at all, neither has the film, really. I still prefer Llumar tint, and would opt for an installer who installs it, specifically. Most shops will tell you what they're installing or will have it posted all over the place. Don't buy into the "3M" hype; 3M could be making the film, the adhesive, the backing, you never know...

Thats the largest group of people wearing Rayban wayfarer glasses I've seen in a long time. I thought those glasses went out of style a long time ago. Makes me think of entire families of people from Connecticut who used to wear Rayban aviators.

I tried in high school and had no touch. Just hit out of the park homers almost every time. Agreed, its tough. Golf is also a harder sport to be good at then people give it credit for

My roommate from college in the 90s was from CT. He and his extended family and a lot of families in general from CT wore them.

You wouldn't think they made Rayban aviators for 3 year olds, but they do!! lol

Buy the overpriced tailgate handle camera, wrap the wire in loom, extend power and ground to the length of the rca, shove the loom through a grommet, hook it up in the cab. For now mine is off the second power socket but I’ll do a high current relay and ignition switched fuse block eventually. Tapping the reverse to auto trigger the head unit was the only mild pain. Black w red under the fuse box. Reverse relay is right next to turn flasher.

My Tacoma is a DC. A buddy actually had a pretty nice first gen DC. Sold it a couple of years ago. I remember puking out the window on the way back from a rather long run where I fell apart after about 3 hours and an unplanned detour off course with no water. That truck re-kindled my first gen flame. I can see the appeal. But the RC is the special one to me because you can’t buy a new one.

    I’m not un-tempted by a 2022 Tundra, I’ll say that much.

This is not rubbing at all for me. Currently stock suspension with mudflaps removed. Have 6112s on order to lift front 1” but was happy to see this fit as is since suspension is taking a while. See below screenshot for wheel specs.
