I decided to investigate why the heated seats in my ‘06 Limited don’t work today.
Under the center console I found that the switches are unplugged, intentionally disconnected by the previous owner I assume. 9E1FC1FF-1CAE-4170-99D0-0031A99D54B3.jpg

Then I took a look under the seat, and found the same 3 wires (pink blue and black)are disconnected there as well…

(in addition to the unplugged red black and green wires).

My questions…does anybody know why the PO would have disconnected the seat heaters? Are they known to be problematic? I’d like to get them working again, but it’s not so important that I’m willing to go down a big rabbit hole or spend a lot on the project.
I was really hoping to just replace some switches or something, but now I’m really curious why it was all disconnected.

    Thoughts?

Strange indeed. Well you can simply reconnect and see what happens. It'll either work, pop a fuse or nothing at all. Luck.

Is that all for factory heated seats? Some of those connectors look a little generic to me although I dont have a double cab or heated seats (although I do see a date on a sticker of 01/03/05 so maybe not aftermarket) Just wondering if someone added aftermarket heated seats or something and they broke at some point and it started causing issues and they unplugged everything.
Seems like the best thing to do is plug it all in and try for a smoke test or you'll never find out what could be wrong with it.

I don't like the looks of the GRN / BLK / RED bundle. The connector's not discolored from heat but that slice in the side near the BLK lead is weird.

I think it's just the angle of the photo. If you look closely, appears to be the space for the tab that locks this end of the connector to the other.

That’s good info! I can’t figure out how to see my exact trucks history on NHTSA or KBB’s site. But, ‘06 Tundras with seat heaters definitely had a recall that involved unplugging them. I read the TSB though and it involved replacing the switches with blanks, but I still have switches. So that’s a little suspicious.
    Thanks!

Thats just the way the connector looks in the pic I think. Here’s another pic…

But, I have no idea what this is unplugged from either. The pink/blue/black wires seem to be for the heater switches, I don’t know where these go. Besides heated seats everything seems to work.

Im investigating if it was factory or dealer installed. If I understand correctly the recall is for dealer installed seats, and they might be unplugged specifically because things will start smoking!

Set up an account on Toyota Owners; it should show what recalls have been performed (and other work if reported).
