Installed my new Alcan leaf springs today. That ass is up in the sky now :D
The Orbit Eyes are supposed to allow me to flex easier/more, we shall see about that. I need to go find a place where I can flex the truck to take measurements for new rear shocks.

Hoping I can fit at least a 14" Fox 3.0 Piggyback. If I can fit a 16" that'll be cool.

Random and dumb question: but could you use a regular socket on the bolt with the zerk fitting or have to go deep?

Regular socket would work. I used a boxed wrench to hold the zerk fitting side and a impact gun & socket on the nut side.

Nice! Really like the orbit eyes, so far rear spring bushings are a consumable pain in the ass for me.
Few of my friends run this or the MCM version with 12” shocks and get almost 15” travel, that’s close to the limit of stock driveshaft u-joints at full droop.

So Dave it sounds like I need to spend more money :(
You know I haven’t even thought about the limitation of the U-joint. I have those Camburg mounts just haven’t installed yet. The Deaver packs that the mounts work with have a 2-2.5” lift. The Alcan stack gives me 5” so in theory I could stick a 14” shock in there if the new lower shock mounts are welded lower (like the stock ones), then clock the pinion angle, and use a limit strap to stay within the U-joint limits until I upgrade the drive shaft with a slip yoke. Do you think that’ll work?

Dealing with RCV warranty via e-mail sucks. RCV warranty over the phone is a whole lot better. I spent November waiting for email responses that I rarely got. Called RCV in early December to warranty my CV axle clicking. They immediately sent me a shipping label, which I ended up shipping the axle a week later. Today I got the axle back. That’s pretty good turnaround time I would say.

    65F8A8DC-EC73-4786-B8A0-9A64D0E1702C.jpg

I think I’ve figured out why I’ve been destroying axles lately - too much caster with the new LCAs. My axles look like a zigzag -\_ with the axle shaft so far forward that the outer joint has to turn a considerable amount just for the wheels to be straight. So when I turn full lock they just end up binding.

Wow, they are still making Orbit Eye springs. I had a set on an old rock crawler back in 2003. Those flexed like mad. I put a set of +1,000# Alcan's on my Tundra, made a big difference.

By looking at the pictures can you tell if they are the same as before or have they changed it up?

I’ve seen them on small jeeps and yotas. Not sure how they’ll hold up with the big boys.

From what I can see, it looks pretty much the same. Alcan acquired the Orbit Eye from AOR Offroad way back when and built the springs for AOR. This picture is with the Orbit Eye's on the front of the springs, look at all that travel. The 14" shock is maxed out.

Did some measurements and it looks like I need to clock my rear axle up by 4 degrees. Ordered 4 degree shims, new U-bolts, and new center pins. Should be able to install it before heading down to KOH.

So Project 17 kicked off today. Project 17 is the revamp and expansion to 17 onboard cameras on the truck. I’ve been dragging my feet for so long because I hate running wires on the truck. The only reason I was able to start today was because I got my buddy to run the wires for me :D I paid him though.

This is what 17 cameras looks like when all the wires are ran into the cab:

I got my front cameras (1-6) mounted.

It's basically a front camera system, like FRAC or the Beatsonic, that I modified with my own switch.

Would you mind more details on the cameras? After a front, I want one on each side pointing fore for side clearance

I use various cameras depending on where I position them.

I use this one the most because it has a 135 degree viewing angle, which means you have a more focused view compared to wider angle cameras.
Works great on bumpers (since they can be flush mounted) and anywhere under the truck. I think this would be best for your situation.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083SF5VVN?ie=UTF8

If you're going for a true side of the truck shot like this, then I would recommend a flush mounted forward facing camera with a 170 degree viewing angle. I installed the camera above with the 135 degree viewing angle and found out it was not wide enough. If I am up against a tree or rock wall, then that super wide angle would be perfect for those very close up situations.
    upload_2022-1-24_10-54-59.jpg

I use this camera for inside the cab or up on the center of the grill. It has a 145 degree viewing angle. I put one inside the cab near the base of the back window so that I can see my dogs since they like to curl up right behind the front seats.
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B078ZZSKQ2?ie=UTF8

I installed these reverse only cameras here because they have a built in light. Haven't tested it out yet though. The hole saw that it comes with is garbage.
