All joking aside, I previously owned a Ridgeline and it was a reliable and useful vehicle. But as you know, it was slow and the gas mileage should have been better for it being so slow. I swear my Honda Odyssey was faster.

Based on the background I’d suggest buying a daily driver that’s fun to drive everyday (sport sedan/crossover of some sort) and then an older single cab pickup with an 8’ bed. Pre-covid I had a creampuff Infiniti M35 for commuting and my tundra for weekend projects and fun. Now I’m remote so I went all in on the Tundra.

Look for a single cab 1st gen for the work truck and something fun for back and forth to the office. You can make it work, accountants are smart :)

found a great deal on an older sequoia and I have been whipping that around for a bit. This will hold me over until truck prices settle. CF51F768-CD87-4B39-A1D1-9949074069D9.jpg

My main problems with the current Ridgeline are styling and the 9-speed. When Honda makes it look better and puts in the 10-speed from the Accord/Odyssey it’s going to be a great daily driver.

GREAT buy man. These are a steal for what they are. People are starting to notice their capability and prices having been climbing. Similar to the older GX's too. Your example looks very clean.

What are the issues with the 9 speed?

Clunky, misshifts, shifts into N. It's not a popular transmission across the Pilot, Passport, and Ridgeline forums. Majority agree it sucks and some get fixed with software updates but doesn't stop Honda from selling them.

I had a 2007 it was a legit piece of shit! 3 blown axels nothing offroad related, transmission problems/over heating. I think after the 7/8th tow and being stranded I traded it on a Tacoma. The only thing positive thing about one is the storage under the bed liner is cool.

Other than the under powered engine, aggravating transmission behavior and lack of interior space/comfort.

Isn't the new 3.5L/6 speed the same?

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck then it’s a duck. Honda Ridgeline is not a truck. Don’t expect a wannabe truck to be a real truck. If you want almost a truck then go with the Sequoia. That’s my attempt to talk you out of the Ridgeline. ;)

Congratulations and enjoy!! I was actually thinking about replacing my wife’s 4Runner with a sequoia. Sharp looking sequoia and so happy you didn’t get a ridgeline.

It’s the ZF9 that comes in a variety of products including the Ridgeline, but also a bunch of FWD Chryslers like the Pacifica and 200. Lots of reliability issues with them. The Honda 10 speed is replacing it but I’d guess they have some commitment to ZF to buy a certain number of units a year until they phase it out.

I thought Chrysler buyers were really impressed with that ZF but I must be misremembering.

Nothing like reviving a dead thread right guys?

Just wanted to introduce everyone to my new RIDGELINE!!.......

    Just kidding hahahah

Selling my Tundra and buying the Sequoia may have been the best thing I had done. It created a path for me to start flipping cars. After fixing up the Sequoia I sold it and bought a Toyota Sienna, fixed it, flipped it, and now onto the next project. My dad is a mechanic so I spent alot of my childhood in his shop and despised it the entire time. However, here lately I have really enjoyed working on these cars and going to junkyards to scavenge for parts.
