Thanks! I was really hoping they'd come up with something better than their original March ETA. Hope yours follows mine out the door really soon too.

Supercharger still ETA'd for Tuesday. :bikewheelie2: In the meantime, Following @PNWTundra2021's recommendation I dropped my truck off with Audio Northwest in Lacey, WA for some work on Friday while I was up visiting family for the holiday weekend. I've had this Mobile ES head unit for over a month now and not had time to install it yet. Even with zero tuning on the audio system the new head unit sounds 1,000x better than the factory HU did. I always thought my setup sounded a lot crappier than it should have for as high end of equipment as I was running, and now I confirmed that it was. Something was going really wrong between my factory HU and the DSR1 interface, but between those two pieces I was never very happy with my highs in particular. bypassing all that crap and going direct from high-end head unit to high-end amp, OMG what a difference.

Also had the great guys at Audio Northwest install a Compustar remote start / security system while they were in there. This system is way more functional than the Toyota alarm system, and the app is killer too.

Still deciding what I want to do with the ICS dash mount. I had Audio Northwest leave it in there when they put the stereo in, mostly because the thing was such a PITA to get in there in the first place and I didn't want to decide after it was out that I wanted it there after all. It sure was nice to free up my view by getting rid of that extra tablet mount though. Any thoughts on what might be worth putting on a good dash-top molle panel?

    20220102_180959.jpg

For reference, here's what the dash used to look like with the tablet holder:
    20210705_102929.jpg

I have a mirror power tap for the V1 but haven't been able to get it working 100% yet. So for now I'm still living with the old school cig lighter adapter. Beware that WSP does not always leave their radar on though! On my way back home from Audio Northwest on Friday I had a trooper come ripping up behind me and pace me for about 2 miles. It never went off once. I was only going 7-8 over when I saw him coming so I slowed it down to exactly the speed limit by the time he got to me so he eventually moved on to go fish for another victim.

Prob another week or two. Need a few hours of dedicated time just to go through the install mentally and that is not happening until at least next week at this point. I'm very comfortable with engine work but I know there are going to be questions I'll want to have answers to before I get started.

Do you have to install a new microphone with the head unit of does it use the factory location?

They used the mic that came with the new head unit.

Does seem pretty easy for anyone with a moderately experienced background in wrench-turning. My truck is at the dealer right now having that stupid "key not detected" issue I've complained about a few times on here dealt with but if I can get it back by this weekend, I hope to get started on the install!

I think the good part for us doing it on a new-ish truck is the tank was easy to drop, the most tedious part is all those hoses, took the time and worked on it like 2-3hrs a day and that took may be 5 days, there was one day where majority of work was done, overall I can understand why some guys are hitting several hundred thousand miles on s/c trucks.

I made a bid on a supercharged 2017 off CoPart a about midway through last year but didn't end up getting it. That one had 130k on it. Seems apparent to me too that six figure mileage is nothing for these superchargers. Not looking like I'll be getting my truck back until next week now so I'll have to reach deep within myself and muster up a little more patience.

Finally got time to work on the SC install today. Started with the fuel pump to get that out of the way first, then moved up front. Coolant is drained, all the old parts are off, new injectors and plugs are in. All that's left now is re-assembly. I'm into it for about 6 hours so should be about halfway done.

With a little planning and some careful maneuvering I was able to get the tank out and back in by myself.

Thanks Man, me too! You'll have to stop by again and give it another run. I rented a space at Iron Gate just up the hill from JHK to store my trailer for the time being so I'm always looking for your and Casey's trucks in the parking lot on my way past.

a few more updates over the last two days, working on it an hour or two at a time. I'm basically down to setting the charger on the engine and bolting it down.

Intercooler in. Going to have to build a new bracket for my air horns.

I was able to move it just far enough to the back of the box (about 1/4" farther back than the instructions say to go) and thereby cleared my second factory ground point instead of having to relocate it.

with only 7700 miles on the truck and maybe 7,000 since adding the oil separator I was truly shocked by how full it was. I had to walnut blast the intake on my wife's X5 a couple years ago due to carbon build-up, and this oil recirculating through the intake system is why it happens. So at least now I know that, but this is my first experience with a catch can and I was extremely surprised to see there's a lot more than just vapor going on in there. From here forward I'm installing one on every car we ever own.

Does this effect emissions at all? My state (Pa.) requires emissions testing every year unless you drive less than 5000 miles.

You're not adversely affecting the PCV system in any way. Unless they do a physical inspection of the engine bay there will be no issue at all. What you're doing is preventing the vehicle from burning its vented oil fumes. If anything, an argument could be made you're improving emissions because those oil fumes are no longer being sent out the tailpipe as more CO2. Instead, they're being collected as liquid and recycled with the regular oil change interval. The reason they don't do this from the factory is because it's an extra maintenance step and the defects created by not having it (such as carbon build-up in your intake system, reduced power over time, etc) will not show up until well after the warranty period has expired. Search "walnut blast intake" and you'll find thousands of people who have had to do this to their cars after anywhere from 70-150k miles to get their performance back. Predominant stop & go driving accelerates the onset of symptoms. I have put around 7k miles on my truck after installing the separator and driven a good 70% of those miles on the highway, and I still collected half a pint. On my diesel-drinker X5, I did it at about 120k. At that time the intake had anywhere from 1/8" to 1/4" thick carbon build-up down all the ports.

More baby steps. Finally got the charger set on top of the engine last night. The coolant bottle and lines are just there for mock-up right now. Prior to last night I was prepared to profusely commend Maggie on the quality of their instructions but it now appears they have changed things up considerably once you get to the hoses. What's included vs. what the instructions explain to do with them are completely different. The short of it is the instructions go on for about 3 pages worth of how to cut up the "provided hoses" into sections that will be used throughout the install. What came with my kit however is hoses that for the most part are already made to fit. The scary part are the exceptions, because that wasn't the case all the way through. in earlier steps I did in fact have to cut and splice per the instructions. So I'm very glad that I have been working on cars long enough to know better than to cut without reading ahead and determining what for. In the midst of the change in supplied parts, it also appears they shorted me the hose that goes from the coolant pump to the IC (the instructions give a step-by-step for cutting that one out of some bends in the "provided hoses," but the "provided hoses" did not match the instructions). So, on this morning's agenda is a call to Maggie and see if I can get that hose coming. Major bummer b/c I was really looking forward to getting on the road while we still have a couple days of sunshine left in the forecast. If not for that missing hose I would be filling it up with coolant tonight and test driving by tomorrow.

All done, ready for tune. Got the software downloaded and activated yesterday but Mag didn't get me the tune pack before close of business, so Monday is test drive day.

well, almost all done. Still have to come up with a new mount for my air horns. For anybody looking for a good set of inexpensive communicators, these things sound really legit with the factory electrics left in too. $40 on Amazon. They are five years old now (originally had them on my 2017) and still running great.

Got the calibration file from Mag this morning at 5. Got it programmed and completed shakedown cruise by 6 lol. Experiencing a vac leak somewhere, appears to be coming from the driver's side. Everything looks tight though so I'll have to do more investigating later today. Did about 2 miles on surface streets and 1 mile on freeway. Did not get on it hard at all since this was just a test run but it definitely runs strong and sounds really good!

Vacuum leak found. Turns out the OE pinch-style clamp I was using for my catch can wasn't quite cutting it where I needed to re-route the line to in order to clear the supercharger. $2.19 spent on a worm clamp from Napa and no more leak!
