Surefire signs to really see if truck is trd off road and not somebodies slapped on stickers?

I am looking at a 2020 sr5 truck with low miles and I have my suspicion that the trd stickers were just placed there for looks by previous owner. What is a good place to start looking under the truck or anywhere to really know if its an off road speced model? I'd love to learn more.

What makes you suspicious? You can check for a fuel tank skid plate. (Plastic).

True. I’ve also heard of Toyota’s website giving incomplete specs on trim levels before. So I’d probably run the VIN and look underneath. :blahblah:

Another recommendation to check the vin, shocks and look for the skid plate.

    Don't look at mine...

Though, in fairness, mine is a Pro transgender and far more off road capable.

The trd off road package is just some skids and shocks, but most importantly a cool sticker on bedsides.

Trd pro package however is significantly different from a sr5 trim. I would be more cautious about a trd pro being faked.

And as someone else said, some dealers have their own "off road" stickers.

Isn't the differential different on the TRD?

in all honesty, if they put on the led lights, shocks, stickers, wheels and decals, whats the difference?

I dont think anyone would add a plastic skid, so if that was on there, its genuine I say. I mean, what reason could they have to make a fake trim when what they would spend to make it that way would probably be more than the factory would charge.

Thanks for all the replies. Very helpful.
No, the 22 has not arrived yet and I am getting cold feet due to possible immediate issues. I need a truck for my buisness, so was lookin at 2.5 gen.

I’ve got a TRD off-road SR5 only thing that package really gets you is blue and yellow shocks (already swapped out) a flimsy “splash guard” (already swapped out), the plastic tank skid (still have), and bed stickers (still have, wife likes them). It’s really not a huge upgrade from a regular SR5 4x4.

And don't you get 18" wheels also? Shifter handle upgrade?

I have the sport, was trying to think of the differences.

Yes 18” aluminum wheels. I got the bench seat with the column shifter. So I have the small gas tank. Sooner or later I’ll find a totaled truck at a wrecking yard and get the 38 gallon tank.

TRD OR bedside stickers are worth +15 grip and +10hp.

the only upgrade I'm glad it had as stated was the blacked out LED headlight assemblies. The rest eventually will be upgraded.

If they’re blacked out it’s probably a faux pro. I have the off road package and it’s just normal LED not the blacked out ones the pro comes with

I did the opposite - bought a TRD package and the wheels are the only thing left.
