    Just like the title says.

I am looking for a new/OEM 2017 TRD Pro grill without the surround/trim...just the grille.

I would like to use my existing chrome surround and hood bulge and have them painted/color matched to my truck at my local body shop.

    Is this doable?

    This grille...

Thanks in advance for your help.

as far as a part number, not sure. I've only seen them new with the surround.

I do see the insert only for sale used.

Where are you located? I've got 1 I'd part with just taking up space in my garage. Never been on a truck.

    Sounds good!

I am in the Savannah, GA area.

How difficult is it to get the surround piece on and off?

Just out of curiosity……why not order the a new one which only comes with the color matched surround.

It costs under $300 without the hood bulge.

I just recently sold mine for $150 and that’s about the only way you can get one. Probably several for sale here on the forum but shipping is the deal killer.

I thought about getting my chrome grille color match painted but the cost is sky high. It has to be stripped of the chrome and most painters won’t even touch it.

So it was pricey……$450 to swap out the chrome surround and hood bulge.

Hope it works out for you.

Super easy. Several YouTube videos of folks doing it. Took me about 10 minutes and if 5 to insert.

I just may do that…not sure the best direction to go just yet.

Color matching paint jobs are not created equal. Even the factory OEM ones run shades different from the vehicle. My local body shop guy nailed the color match on my fender flares…best I’ve ever seen. This is the biggest reason I may go the route I am posting about.

Also, surely it can’t be that difficult to sand blast the chrome off…

Anything “can be” done……but at what cost. If you’re doing all the prep work yourself then I’d give it a shot. What color is your truck?

I have a Cement color and there’s a slight variation in the OE Surround and Hood Bulge. Not exact but also not really that noticeable.

Ya my local paint shop color matched my flares ($200) and they are perfect. Well to my eye anyway.

I really liked the stock grille insert on my Limited Edition so I bought the one you’re looking for and inserted it into the color matched surround. Well I first dipped the chrome stuff and got it just the way I wanted.

My area dealerships (2) will price match whatever local area prices I find online. So Boch Toyota has the best deals and since they price match it I don’t have to pay any shipping. Most parts I’ve ordered come in the next day or two at most.

I can post a before and after if you want. It’s not with the old pro grille insert, I sold that and recouped some of my costs, but it will give you the same idea. Plus it will be much easier since the surround and grille come out in one piece…….it will be just removing the stock and inserting the new. Probably like under 30 minutes

Mine is sunset bronze. Pics would be great if not too much trouble.

No trouble at all. You’ll need the paint code if you decide to just order the surround and bulge.

Does the black mesh remove fairly easily inside the bulge?

It’s all one piece. I didn’t remove it but I’ve seen guys that so I imagine it’s fairly easy. Some folks insert a light bar instead

Thanks and it was a lot of fun as well.

Here’s a pic of the fender flares!

I showed my dealership parts manager these two online pics and they price matched them for me. The bulge came in the next day and the surround/grille took another day.

Paid those prices plus Mass Tax of course. So like I said it was pricey but I did sell the old pro insert for $150 and recouped some of the costs. So it cost me like $320 for the entire mod.
