I had a Compustar Alarm and Remote Start on my 2002 AccessCab. I was having a lot of parasitic battery drain to where the battery would be completely deal within 2 days. I had the alarm and remote start removed and never had the issue again.

old technology new systems are very advanced now. I don't want a system but have to get one. Toyota's are hot cakes right now with the scan tool thefts going on. Plus I know a lot of guys are going to say I have insurance . That might be true but guess what that would will buy you . yup you guessed it the new v6 tundra which I do not want.

I been trying to get the t13 alarm, my local dealer been trying to get it since released last year. They have a basic alarm with remote and said the good thing about Compustar is that we can upgrade features easier with just add on modules like the t13 keypad kit with proximity sensors that sill unlock as u approach the vehicle which is cool bc I always have tools in my hands.

20220110_031821.jpg I have it on my 2020. The 2-way remote is great (3 miles range). It alerts me if the truck is tilted(being towed or jack up), shock (glass breakage or hard bump) and doors opened. If you don't want the 2-way remote, you can use the Drone X1(unlimited range) to get alerts from your phone. With Drone X1, you can remote start, lock and unlock doors, and track your vehicle location thru your phone. I do not have Drone X1 hook up because there is subscription fee. My 2-way remote tells me pretty much everything such as battery voltage, temperature inside truck, shock alerts or door opened.

Those procedures would scare most diyers. They now offer a plug n play harness for most vehicles including the 2021 tundras. Plus the fact that most owners do not want to hack-up their new vehicle wiring harness. I only have to solder 3 connections. I believed the DC3 is the updated module most people are using because the ability to upgrade to a full alarm system such as shock, vibration, and tilt.

That might be true, but when faced with a $600 - 700 system plug and play vs a $250 one that requires some knowledge and effort and is actually better feature wise than the plug and play, I'll take the latter.

Not true. The function of a full alarm system with plug n play harness that I shown are now going for $300 to $375 depending where you get it (ebay and Amazon). Correct me if I am wrong, I don't think you can add shock sensor or tilt sensor on your particular module you are using. The most updated and easy to upgrade module is the DC3 I believed.

The Compustar full alarm system with plug n play harness that I shown is in the $300 range. Plus with the DC3 module, you can go with the the Pro T13 remote (Proximity Unlock). How awesome is that! Sure there are more expensive system out there, but Compustar alarm offers more features, easy to upgrade, and for much less.

    thanks so much great details.

    so here is my story.
My 2018 4Runner I bought a Compustar kit that was premade for key version 4runner.
I have the full system DC3 AL blade with the fancy upgraded 3 mile remote like your picture. I installed it myself and is amazing. and it has remote start to.
    everything working wonderful

My problem now is 2 things
1-No one will sell the system to me from compustar
2-my tundra has push button start which has be stumped what I need to buy

(2020DC) I don't think your truck is push button correct?
I was not able to find part number for t harness for push button trucks.

T-harness works with Firstech DC3 which is part of Compustar and IDatastart. They are all compatible.

Firmware is available for 2021 Tundras with push start ignition. You can use module from Firstech Dc3 or Idatalink CMHCXA0. These two modules are the lastest and are easy to upgrade.

    I would be going dc3
What has me confused regarding the tl7 t harness harness is how it’s so universal to all Toyota push button . So my tundra has the same plugs under dash connectors like Corolla Camry etc ?

ignition cut is also all done by t harness ?

that’s so easy if it is

PTS (Push to start) DC3 and CMHCXA0 are the same. Page 5 shows how the T-harness is connected on 2021 tundra PTS (push to start). Answers to your questions are yes and yes. As you see on page 5, certain connections on the T-harness will be used and certain ones will be omitted because the T-harness is universal to other Toyota models. Hope this help.

thank you for all this information its a huge help.

I was looking at page 5
so basically T-Harness does it all but I would need to hard wire this guys.

-blue wire for idle mode? what's that ?

-grey with silver wire I would have to run to engine bay to add a switch for hood.(M3-07)
Says JS4 and JS5 to connect if no oem hood pin. I don't think any Tundra's has oem hood pin but not sure. So in that case I connect JS4 and JS5 and also run blue wire to engine bay and add my own switch.Might do ball bearing style.

-from M2-11 black with brown and connect this to some relay on car? I don't follow that part maybe in person I will understand better.

how am I do so far lol

programming all that is needed is the fancy cable? I always thought dealer only.

Idle mode (also know as pit stop mode): Allows the remote starter to be activated while the vehicle is running under key. When activated, the user can exit the vehicle with the key or fob and the vehicle will continue to run for the programmed runtime. You certainly want to get the T-harness so you don't hack up your truck harness. As far as the hood switch, that is an option. With the hood switch installed...remote start can not be activated if hood is open. I did not install hood switch. I replied to your DM.

Idle mode no need for so that I will skip.

(M2-11 black with brown and connect this to some relay on car? )

I have a Compustar remote start system that was installed on the truck when I got it. Worked fine for a couple of years and then simply started acting up: multiple presses on the remote to get it to do anything...started with maybe 2-3, then 10-12, and now at this point it's basically bit the dust. Got a new remote - won't go into programming mode to register the old or new key fob. I've tried various methods for programming via multiple videos online. Compustar themselves have been somewhat helpful with ideas, but I have no idea where this was installed, and it was never registered or tracked, so none of their dealers will even look at it to find out what the issue is. Has a build date of 2017 so not a very old unit, disappointed it's basically junk in a few short years for no reason I can find (I used to install this stuff quite frequently, so the lack of available troubleshooting with it makes me feel less than enthusiastic about future support). For what it would cost me to have someone look at it and tell me what I already know (it's garbage, head unit is probably junk), I'm having a whole new setup installed - Viper, definitely not Compustar.

I've been living without any modern functionality for a month or so now - no lock/unlock, no remote start...manually locking and unlocking the doors gets mighty old mighty quickly.

Did you have to tap into the horn (-) wire? If so, do you remember which and where?

    thanks

I have had two viper and four compustar systems. I prefer viper. They seem to have less issues for me.
    That being said.
Compustar is pretty good at getting back to you by email if you have problems. They could not solve any of my problems. But they do get back to you.
I have one t13 remote and every two weeks it was dead without warning. Found out leaving the key in the vehicle they talk to each other all the time and drain the remote battery and likely the car battery. So if you go that route do not leave the key in the vehicle when not in use. I hope that fixed my issue. I am testing it currently.
I have had three T12 and other than easily cracked screens they seem to fair alright. I have bought two in 7 years. I am not hard on things but these crack very easily.

The Viper alarm in my old 02 civic that my dad is still driving is still working perfectly. On the third remote but not bad for 21 years!

And it still only lasts two weeks. Had to charge it today. I am considering turning the proximity off as that is likely the cause of the crappy battery life in the T13.

Hope my setup doesn’t have i same issue as yours. Im not using proximity or t13 remote. Just a simple 2way.

Sorry, my question was confusing. What i meant to ask was, did your kit require you to tap a wire into the truck’s horn (-) wire under the steering wheel?

I was looking over the install guide for my truck and it said to tap into the horn(-) wire of the truck but doesn’t specify location or wire color of the horn.
