I have searched through some threads but they all seem to be different. I have a noise at the left front tire that sounds like a nail in the tire ( noise seems to happen at consistent intervals) scraping the concrete each time it touches but quieter. I have checked the tire and there are not any nail, rocks, etc. Took the tire off and there is no apparent debris or anything. When I spin the rotor, there is a consistent spot where it rotates easier for about 10 to 15 percent of the rotation.

Rotors and pads were replaced about 6 months ago and the tires were rotated 2 weeks ago. I also tried bending the shield back but I don't think that's the problem? Any ideas? Early warped rotor?

    Too many, but not enough....
Does it go away in 4wd? Thinking needle bearing.

It's not 4wd and no lift or anything.

Jack it up and replicate it by hand to determine the cause?

I did jack it up and rotated but with the wheel off. That's where I get the portion where it spins easier for a small portion of the rotation. Tire/wheel does not appear to be damaged in any way.

So seems recent from the rotation?

Maybe. I have 155k miles on the truck too so some things could be wearing out. I guess I could start with switching the tires and seeing if stops or changes?

Maybe a loose caliper, check the bolts, also just for confirmation check the ball joints and shock mounts.

Could definately be a warped rotor.

You could swap the rotors to confirm.

If you used aftermarket rotors/pads from AutoZone/Oreillys/Advance/Checker, etc then I would not rule these out.

I used Power Stop brakes. Also, don't know if it matters but my truck is a 2012. I don't know how but I put this in the wrong forum and don't know how to move it. But I don't think the year would make too much difference.

That shouldn’t matter that much…it does sound like a possible warped rotor…is the wheel tight on the hub? Like, with the wheel raised off the ground, does it have any play on the hub?

BTW: I used these brakes too and I think the OEM brakes are better.

With 155k miles, I would be thinking wheel bearings. But that makes a roaring or grinding noise when driving.

Ball joints seem Ok (I'm no expert), the shock appears to have a leak but the truck does not seem to be affected by it. I will replace it soon but don't think its the issue. I am starting to think warped rotor or something stuck between the rotor and the backing plate. What is the best way to test/examine the rotor for what may be minor warping?

    brake caliper that is stuck.

Take the caliper off and depress it inwards. then try again. if the issue is gone then the caliper is getting stuck.

if the issue persists then try rotating the hub with the brakes off and see if you get same issue. If so then the front hub has a bearing that is going south.

Took brakes and caliper off and everything looks OK. Laid the rotor on the flatest surface I could find and it seems flat. Rotated the hub and it turns freely without any noise so it's something with the brakes. Pads could be bad or the rotor could be slightly warped. Doesn't seem to affect the driving any so I guess Ill drive it for another week or so and if it doesn't go away I'll try some other rotors and pads.

I'd swap the rotors to try and narrow it down before throwing money at it. You might spend on rotors only to find a bad caliper or bearing. Diagnose completely then spend as needed. Save $$
