Also considering getting the TRD Rear Sway Bar.

Still on the fence, not really sure it’s worth getting, or if it will really make any difference.

So I got on and off the highway at a pretty good speed, not fast enough to chirp/slide the tires, but faster than what most would be considered safe. I don’t think the lean was all that bad/much.

I know it’s not an expensive modification and would probably a fun install to do……but not sure it’s even worth it. If you have it installed and really think it makes a worthwhile difference let me know your opinion. Thanks

You know when you grab the rattle can and it feels like “the end is near”? Well that’s what I thought so I started spraying a few coats on the dipped emblems/vent rings and then another and another……and another and another……. I’m like what the heck it not only feels empty but it sounds empty as well. Then like 8 or 9 coats it finally was empty!

So they all got a few extra coats. Letting everything cure overnight and tomorrow I’ll hopefully reinstall the wheel hub logos. Probably give the inside stuff another day of curing inside the house and all day in the sun.

better on road performance at sacrifice of off-road articulation—so it depends on use of your truck

Definitely No Off Roading. Don’t even drive it if it’s raining and definitely not if it’s ever snowing.

Truck spends more time being washed and waxed then admired. :)

Plus all the fun of little mods here and there.

I’d guesstimate mileage will be under 4K a year.

If that’s the case for your truck, many claim the sway bar is a top handling modification. I’d say go for it. Plus, it’s removable if you change your intentions later on.

Appreciate your input. The only thing I’d don’t care for is the “RED” color. I’d rather have less flashy, like a dark gray……it will still sorta standout but not be SCREAMING LOOK AT ME. Haha

The only one I saw on their site is more than double the price of the TRD bar. I’d rather just paint the Toyota one instead. Well something to think about, and maybe add to the mod list. Got a few more mods lined up before I get to that one.

It has some upsides to it also it's a thicker stiffer bar that's solid and also has three different adjustments for the firmness you prefer.

Since I’m taking my pup for her Spa Day! (bath and nails)

I sprayed the Wheel Hub Logos with a few coats of ceramic spray and then reinstalled. I’m really happy with how they came out. The Anthracite Gray has a little bit of metallic in it.

Well anyway the chrome is gone.

    Incredible Weather!
Third week of November and it’s 70+ Degrees in New England!!!

So I took advantage of it and with a quick rinse then topped off with a couple coats of ceramic spray.

Then I installed the Tufskinz Air Vent Ring Overlays that I previously dipped Gray! Very very happy with how they came out along with the Steering Wheel Logo Overlay.

Then I found my old Tundra Shift Handle from my 2007. I had swapped it out with the barrel OE T-handle knob Toyota offered. But after years of handling the leather wrap started coming undone. So I’m glad I kept the original All Black shift handle.

I think I’m going to dip the old handle with Gray and keep the stock one original. Not sure how the old one will look after being dipped but what the heck why not give it a shot. Another future mod on the “to do” list!

Nice enough weather today to take a little Dip!

1st Picture: Shift Handle Prepped and Ready for Anthracite Gray Dip

2nd Picture: Shift Handle Dipped and will let cure overnight. Tomorrow if the weather is decent I’ll spray the dipped area with several coats of Rust-Oleum Matte Clear Enamel and post a picture of it in the truck

1st the Wheel Hub Toyota Emblems. Easiest mod ever. Squeeze the plastic hub and then just gently push the 2 tabs that hold the logo in place and they pop right out.

2nd the Duratracs: Excellent. Love the look, the look was the only reason I swapped out my stock Michelin tires, only because I wanted a more aggressive. Really I coulda gone with a multitude of tire choices but these were on sale and the best deal I could find.

So never having these tires in the past, I had the ubiquitous KO2s, which are great tires, but were completely out of stock with a possible month plus wait. So I went with these as others here on the forum gave them pretty good reviews.

They look and are quiet in my opinion. I didn’t want crazy loud tires. Highway miles mostly and average speed of 70 to 80 seems to be the usual flow. So no complaints or issues. Plus I love that they come with Black Side Walls!

Have to say I’m feeling a little nostalgic!

The 2007 Shift Handle from my Good Ol Tundra is now living on in the 2021 Tundra……

    Week 10 and Finally reached the 1,000 mile mark ! ! !

Had the Land Departure warning annoying thing “ON” and it beeps every time I get too close to the fog or center lines. Also noticed on the idiot center dash window/screen that when I scroll to see the mph/mpgs or distance traveled there’s also this “coffee cup” that shows up I guess if you’ve been driving an extended amount of time.

I inadvertently went too close to the fog line and it beeped so I purposefully did it again……and again……and again. Then the Coffee Cup appeared and suggested I stop and take a break.

So apparently it shows up after too many times the LD Warning is activated. Haven’t driven long enough to reach it time wise……and not even sure if it ever shows up based on time or just when the warning is activated too many times.

    Anyway…… 1,000 Miles Reached today!

Still on the fence…… if I go with the trd Rear sway bar I definitely will paint it black or any really dark color. I just don’t like the way it looks, maybe cuz the bar is too skinny and would look better left red if it had some heft to it.

Anyway, found this Rust-Oleum spray that I might use if I get the rear sway bar.

Installed the Gap Seat Filler thingamajig today. Not that I ever really drop stuff/junk between the seats but it has happened once or twice.

Also got these led lights to install. I want to see if I can use them to give the footwell area a little bit of light. Don’t want them to be too bright, really going for a soft dim look, so hopefully these will do the job. If not I might have to dip them with some smoke Plasti-dip.

Oh I forgot to mention that Siri got the Boot.

Replaced with my new Science Navigator/Information Official

And the very first question: is this thing really gonna work?

Have to say I’m quite pleased with the response I got……So I guess it’s gonna be accurate

I was driving home a couple nights ago and it was crazy windy out like 20-30 mph gusts. I’m cruising along probably around 65 mph and off to my right I see this big white plastic looking tube tumbling across the field and it sure enough goes right into the road directly into my path.

Then I hear this loud thud and I can feel the plastic tube being crushed as I drive over it. So the impact at 65 mph and the speed it came across the road I thought for sure there could be some sort of damage/dent. It felt like it hit the front passenger bumper first.

It was too dark when I got home to visually inspect the truck so the next morning I went out to have a look and sure enough on the front passenger side bumper cap there was this whitish smudge/mark where the impact occurred.

Much to my surprise I was able to just wipe off the smudge and there was No Damage to the Plasti-Dipped bumper cap!

So far the enamel covered dip has held up great. No nicks or chips from all the road debris. I’m impressed that a serious impact/whack like that didn’t damage the dip.

I know it’s only been 3 months or so and that’s not much time/miles but this was the first major whack directly on a dipped area. I really believe that coating the dip with several coats of rust oleum matte clear enamel toughened/strengthened the dip. At less than $5 a can a well worth minimal expense!

I was reading on one of the threads here https://www.tundras.com/threads/loo...-the-key-fob-remote-start-subscription.99943/ about the Remote Start App

Anyway, somebody posted that you can press “Lock” 3Xs on the key FOB and start the truck. So I went outside and gave it a try.

Much to my surprise it sure enough started right up. The mirror/turn signal lights blinked a few times after the third press (which I held for 3 or 4 seconds) the truck started right up ! ! !

After it started it I just pressed “unlock” on the FOB and it shut off and I then locked it.

Then I went and looked at my “Window Sticker” to see if it shows remote starter. Which is does……but it says “Remote Connect - Free for 1 year”.

It doesn’t say Remote Starter included. Maybe it’s just my ignorance because I thought the only way to start it was using the App.

Apparently I was wrong. App is not needed to remote start. I remember at the dealership when the kid was explaining everything I thought he said I need to use the App.

Well anyway, give yours a try and let me know if it works or if you already knew it could start with just the key FOB.

Press “Lock” wait one second and press again…..one second and on the 3rd press hold it for 4 or 5 seconds.

    Worked for me!

I saw on the news this small business that makes/sells dog tags with religious sayings/quotes. They actually sell all sorts of religious stuff but I’m a Big Supporter of our men and women serving our country so I got a few of the Dog Tags.

Plan on hanging it from the rearview mirror so every time I jump into my truck I will see it and take a second to give thanks. I figure a quick prayer is always a good thing.

Here’s a picture of the one I’ll have in my truck and the other I’m giving away to someone I know will greatly appreciate it.

And the last 2 pictures of the one I’m giving

I traded in my 2017 Tacoma when I got my new Tundra. Here in Massachusetts we pay annually an “excise tax” on our vehicles based on the estimated value.

So I had paid the excise tax at the beginning of the year for my Tacoma. I had to go to the town hall with my purchase and sales paperwork to show them I no longer owned the Tacoma so I could get reimbursed for the remaining prepaid excise tax.

It wasn’t much money……around $30 but when I asked the lady how many people actually come in to get their money she told me less than 10% for sure. She said most people don’t know about it so rarely does anyone come in to get their refund.

I was thinking about that and how many people sell or trade in their vehicle. If you figure the average refund is probably around $50 and there must thousands of cars sold/traded in annually X $50 in my town……WOW.

That’s sure is a lot of money the town pockets for free. Since I bought my truck I’ve asked everyone with a new vehicle if they got a refund for their trade and not surprising Not One Person knew anything about it. Never even heard about it……and I’m one of those people because I just found out about it right after I got my new truck.

Anyway maybe you’re like me one of people who didn’t know or ever even heard about it.

It’s week 15 of ownership and I’m just shy of the 1,500 mile mark.

So far so good although yesterday while driving in a medium rainfall (wipers at the fastest intermittent speed) on the hi way at let’s say 65mph I turned on the cruise control and it said the “radar system” was not able to function or something to that affect. An idiot icon appeared as well on the dash.

So I’ll have to see if it reset and the weather was the issue.

Also while driving and having the radio on my free XM trial 15-20 minutes into my drive it shut off and a message said something like press ok to continue with your subscription. Can’t remember exactly how it was worded but I just switched over to FM.

Not sure subscribing is worth it or not. I had it in my Muscle Car for a year and back then just like now I really only ever listened to the 60s/70s/80s stations. Anyway another decision to make.

    UPDATE:

So went for a drive today and the TSS had cleared. Once on the hi-way I tried the cruise control and it worked perfectly.

Apparently the rain that day was the cause for the radar not being able to function.

    Anyway all good today.
