Looks like Toyota may be backtracking on the key fob remote start subscription.

Yes and my window sticker does say it has remote connect or something like that. Dealership never told me I could start it using the fob. Only using the app which I didn’t bother cuz it has a subscription fee once the free trial is over.

Figured why even bother.

 

Thanks. This feature doesn't work on my SR5. I didn't think it would since I have the old style ignition switch. Don't really need it anyway.

 

I wonder if the parking brake must be applied for the RS to work. If I were designing a RS system it would require the parking brake to be applied in order to start the truck.

 

Sometimes if I press the Lock button too slow in between clicks it doesn't work. For mine 1 second in between seems to work.

So Press Lock (one Mississippi) Press Lock Again (one Mississippi) Press Lock Again and Hold Down (one mission….two Mississippi….three Miss……..up to 6 Mississippi then release the clicker.

That’s how I have to do mine. A whole bunch of Mississippis

What he said is correct. I do not have the app, I am not connected to Toyota, and the fob works for remote start.

Not necessarily. It can be a bit tricky to get the cadence of the button pushes correct. I press and when I hear the beep I press again, holding it down on the third press untill the lights flash multiple times.

 

Is it possible that I don't have this option on my 2021?

Probably for the best... If it worked then I would usually forget to turn it off with AC or heat set for how I'd want it when I used the nifty remote start, then I'd just be pissed off about that.

 

I have a 2021 sr5 sport and it works.

 

Also 21 sport and mine works. Like already said it’s a little tricky to get the timing right though.

 

Well I guess I am not tricky enough for my truck. My truck is fighting me and and I am gonna ground it for few days LOL

 

I don't even use it, I just walk outside and start my truck. It needs the truck locked and turns itself off after a while I think.

I want it open and running for as long as I feel it needs.

 

2020 SR5 / TSS no remote start.

 

Works on my 2020 Pro, if you start with remote start you can also turn it off by doing the same three clicks on lock.

 

Tried mine at lunch after reading all this and I am still good to go... Never did the app and mine is a 2021 Limited. I rarely used it to begin with, as like said above its finicky at best.
