Haha I turn it down when they are in the truck so I don’t hurt their precious ears.

@devdomski did you have a smaller bolt coming up from the bottom? I have the larger bolts holding the seats down, but there appears to be a smaller bolt threaded up from the bottom.

Should just be 8 bolts total for the seats. Two each section. 7 bolts similar and on special threaded.

Yeah - the 8 bolts yes. But there is also a smaller bolt coming up from the bottom... exposed threads

I only used the four rear bolts. The material used is mdf and its heavy so the weight of the completed project holds it in place well. Using the four forward bolts would have been overkill. I don’t see what you’re talking about with the bolt from the bottom. If you could point out what you’re looking at, I can explain.

Did similar thing in my 07 DC when I had it.
I used it to slide the huge black bins with yellow lids from Home Depot and I could get like 10 of the large ones stacked easily in there or a combination of other sizes of them to keep tools inside instead of in the bed.
Ended up getting rid of the truck and getting a RCLB anyway.

8 bolts. Lift and remove. That thing is nothing. It does nothing to hold the seat in. 15911920760343247334041770543051.jpg 15911921400136448076216287756287.jpg

What fasteners did you use to allow you to take it apart and paint them reassemble?

    awesome project!

How much weight do you recover from removing the rear seats in a 3rd gen DC? I'm thinking of doing this for a variety of reasons

I pulled mine out at one point, on the DC is probably 40-50lbs. Not a lot.

Looks great! What type of wood did you use and how thick was it?
