    I have a 2014 Tundra 5.7 v8 limited and recently added a cold air intake and brand new single exhaust giving me about 100HP and 65 Ft per LBS of Torque. I have a 8500 lb trailer fully loaded and want to go to a 1050lb trailer and want to know if I will be ok cause I refuse to change trucks or drive anything other than a Tundra. Where is the tundra turbo diesel :) Thanks for your help

    I mean, unless that single exhaust is an STS turbo...

    The towing capacity also takes into account frame stress, you could end up bending the frame..Nissan was skewing their towing numbers on the Titan and people were ending with bent frames and shattered axels.

    - Bull Bar - LED Bunny Burners - AMP retractable running boards - Headlight leveling retrofit - P3 Brake Controller - 60% rear seat delete - relocation of Sub to rear wall - Bilstein 5100 x4, top setting with 2 shims per side - Coach builder +2 rear shackles w/carrier bearing drop - Firestone Air bags - on-board compressor with auto-leveling - Dual Undercover Swing Boxes. - P285/65/R20 (34.6") BFG TA KO2's - TRD Front skid plate - Pop & Lock Tailgate lock - Remote Tailgate mod - LED Headlights - Nav Bypass - iPhone integration - Serius/XM retrofit - 25% front tint - Bizon electric tonneau cover - Power folding tow mirror upgrade - 2010+ leveling Headlight mod - Auto-fold mirror mod. - one-touch lane changer mod - Flash to open garage opener mod - Rigid H/L fog light upgrade - Pushbutton / Remote start mod.
    Setting aside that those mods most certainly do not add 100 HP. Tow capacity is generally most related to the weakest link. In stock form, the 5.7 is not even close to being the weakest link. The frame, brakes, differential, transmission and axles all play an important role.

    Were it simply a matter of engine power, the super-charged Tundras would have a much higher tow rating.

    I have the troll mod on my tundra too. It lets me see the sunset from the moon if i go full throttle.. but only if i warm the engine up for exactly 23.2 seconds.

    Hold the Line! If you are not holding the line, abandon your ship. Destruction is inevitable without more to hold the line!
    If that stuff adds 100 HP, I would be highly surprised! More like 10-25HP, maybe... However the motor is not the problem, the suspension is going to be the first problem. Then brakes, then frame, then transmission, then differential, then wheels/tires.

    Naw. You need the throttle body spacer for that.

    @Focus2017
    I'm curious why you think those 2 mods are going to net you 100hp & 65ft/lb of tourqe

    Some Mods :) See build thread for details
    1. Troll or you bought into some lies
    2. Super charger adds 100 - 150 HP. That costs about $8k installed. Why would anyone want a SC if they can add almost that with about $1k worth of intake and exhaust.
    3. Cant change the tow capacity with performance upgrades.

    Hello David and glad to see you towing with your Tundra. Not going to get into your gains from your engine mods, but you also want to double check your trailer posting numbers. If I am reading correctly, are you looking at moving to a 10,500 lb trailer ? If that's the case, I would advice to keeping your 8500 lb trailer. That one in itself is pushing the limits. My travel trailer I tow is close to 8000 when fully loaded with the extra water tanks I added. My suggestion to you, if not already done, would be to add air bags and re-gear. The 5.7 in stock form works well, but the weak link as others have stated are brakes, etc. I would not advice you pushing beyond the limits in towing a 10,500 lb trailer if that's what your numbers were meant to be in the original post. Good luck with all.........

    Looks to me like a "0" jumped from your trailer weight to your increased Hp figure.

    Too many to list
    He is a new member go easy on 'em with HP numbers guys. David, its more like 10hp after CAI and muffler upgrade and even that 10hp gain goes unnoticeable in daily driving. The only person who can add 100hp with CAI & Muffler is Dom from Fast & Furious and he is not into Trucks.
