I would take a picture but do not want to offend a member or anybody on here working for a living changing oil.

Only vehicle I take is my wife's older Accord with 320k miles on it to a Valvoline quick change. I change the rest of our other vehicles.

I pull up to the glass door and right in front of me is a beautiful lifted Tundra. I can see under the truck in the pit as I sit here. I have watched 3 guys under the pit try to figure out how to get the skid plate off. Been 15 minutes and still is not close to coming off. They are going to be even more surprised when they realize it is not a spin on filter and a cartridge that they won't know what to do with.

I know for insurance purposes they won't let me, but I really wish they would give me some metric sockets and climb down there. Would take me 5 minutes and I would have it off.....

I don't want to be that guy and ask if they need some assistance.

I would take a video or pictures but don't want to offend anybody......

I cringe when my SIL takes his car one of these places.

When it eventually comes to the filter change, they'll just as likely not and say they did!

I think the quick lube is a fairly good business model, just need to swap in some Hooter's girls grease monkeys and add another dozen service bays.

    Too many, but not enough....
I am terrified of those places. The only car I take there is my wifes 2011 matrix because its low to the ground and in general a pain in the ass to change the oil. I do however always ask to see the new filter to make sure i like the brand, and make a little mark on it before they put it on and I check the old oil filter so i can check for deposits and check the marks i made on that as well to make sure they actually took it off..

    Well....

About 20 minutes later, or 35 minutes total they gave up. They did an oil extraction through the top and put back in 7 quarts. It was a young high school kid. Driving a newer lofted Tundra that was super clean. He could of care less. They did let him know they couldn't get the skid plate off and just changed the oil. He barely glanced up from his phone and nodded. He could of cared less.

He drove off and turned left and could see the front of the truck. Low and behold, it had the TRD skid plate so I they had to was take off the access panel to get to filter......

If I must admit, that is the first time I have been in a quick change place in 10+ years. It was quite entertaining.

Dollars to dimes, they wouldn't have figured out how to change the filter even if they got to it.

Wtf. That'd be my last time ever going to a quick change after watching that.

@Tundratoofun - oil extraction is common in marine engines. Provided the tube fits properly they can drain the oil pan as well as through the plug. On the other hand, my waverunner dry sump I can only reach 2.4 of 4 qts so I do more frequent dilution changes.
