hi All, picked up my limited crewmax on new years eve.

i had seen chatter about the digital rear view mirror. it wasn't clear which packages get it.

when i was setting up my homelink (buttons on the mirror), it was kind of cool that the homelink menu covered the normal mirror. i thought, wow, seems like i would have the digital mirror with all of that fanciness for the homelink stuff

yesterday i was driving and noticed a switch on the mirror (like a good old fashioned dark/light thing)...flipped it...

wow! it is digital, and it is fantastic. game changer for rear visibility.

sorry, this might be old news for some, but I didn't even know it was a thing

i have the panoramic camera (which is also incredible), so i guess that's part of that? dunno.

i'd easily pay a grand for the digital mirror alone. highly recommend.

I agree. The digital rear mirror is a game changer. You can see much more real estate around you than with the normal rear view mirror.

plus, it is always the one thing everyone notices when they check out my truck.

From my understanding, it uses a camera on the back of the truck similar to the backup camera. So technically yes, but it's not going to be easy. You're gonna spend thousands and a crap ton of time to install it.

Does the brightness automatically adjust to the ambient light level?

Yes, it works as well at night as it does during the day.

Nice. My concern was that it'd be too bright at night. Good to know it dims automatically.

The digital rear view mirror comes with the tow technology package that has the SPA (Straight path assist) for backing up a trailer in a straight line. The camera is on the back of the cab (third tail light) area. There will be 2 located there, one for SPA/digital rear view and a second for the 360 view PVM (also part of MTS) that is aimed down in the the box.

I have the digital mirror also, but am on the fence so far. Cool factor? Hell yeah it's cool. Amazing picture quality and resolution? Oh you better believe it. Hard as hell to get used to? Yep!

When I turn it on and glance up to look, it almost confuses me, because it's not what I am expecting. Perhaps if I drove with it on all the time I would adjust.

The digital rearview is one of my favorite features. I had no idea how much I'd enjoy it! I haven't even played with zooming it, brightness etc. just using factory settings rock! It almost eliminates blind spots, amazing how I can see a car next to me in the rear view. I do keep finding myself looking in it to make sure I'm still beautiful and not seeing my reflection; that is weird everytime.
