I have a 2021 Trail Edition which comes with the Grill Insert for a Platinum (I think). Its a lot of chrome for my taste (especially since the rest of the Trail edition includes blacked out emblems).

Anyone have an normal SR5 or TRD or any black insert that has been wanting one like this and wants to swap? I live in northern Virginia.

The swap is easy. I have a platinum grill insert if you’d be interested. But shipping would probably make it not worth it.

Thanks! But I think I already have a Platinum grill insert. Im looking for one that's black instead of chrome.

There are a couple in the marketplace here for sale right now, honeycomb and the older style TRD Pro grille

Yours looks very similar to my “Limited Edition” grille.

I Plasti dipped mine a dark gray then sprayed several coats of rust oleum matte clear enamel finish to toughen up the dip.

So far so good, no nicks or scratches. It was super easy to do and cost me under $20

Well it’s hard to beat the price. 2 cans of dip at $7 each, one black to use as a base coat (4-5 coats) so you don’t have to use as much gray let’s say 3 coats and it’s covered really well. Then spray 5-6 coats of matte clear enamel ($6 a can). Or gloss if you prefer the shiny look.

I did tape off the area between the chrome slats. Here’s a picture so you can see what I did. Picture is worth a thousand words as the saying goes. Me trying to explain it would probably be more confusing than anything else. Oh and since I had the grille out I decided to dip the center plastic piece too! Did the front fender caps as well.

Ditto on the chrome overage. I’m having my entire grill and surround removed and sprayed with black bedliner. The dull black. I’ve got the honeycomb insert which is black with plastic chrome surround. The honeycomb is really flimsy so the spray on bedliner should stiffen it up a bit. The older I get the less I like chrome I guess. I’m also having the factory bumpers replaced with black steel ones. This will complete what Toyota should have already done since my truck is the nightshade edition SR5.
