Honestly so regret my K&N. It’s kind of a pain to wash and oil. One of the days I might go back to disposable.

    Did it decrease your airflow?
Some Amazon reviewers are bitching about deceased airflow.

If you're happy with it, I'm buying one..

Can you confirm this hole goes inside the truck cabin on driver side?
I have a water leak during heavy rains on driver side that nobody can find the source.

I have never had any problems with water leaks so not sure if this helps you or not. Pretty sure the new inlet I found goes directly into the cab at some point since I found some droppings around that area. Since I blocked it off a week or so ago, still no signs of them getting in. Hope this helps a little.

Decided to check my cabin filter today since the Carfax has no record of it being changed in the first 88,000 miles. Discovered something I had never seen before and didn't realize existed... a K&N washable and reusable cabin filter was installed!

I used compressed air to blow out a few bugs and debris and reinstalled it. I guess I'll never actually have to buy one of those.

This is a super stupid question….which way is the cabin filter arrow supposed to face? Up toward the roof or down to the floor?

Not stupid at all, flow is from top to bottom, arrow points down.

This is an oft discussed issue. Some aftermarket filters indicate direction of air flow (top to bottom), while the factory filter indicates orientation ("up"). I'm not sure it matters all that much, though.

I always leave my vehicle with the "recirculate" button pushed on - that way the vent is closed...no intruders

You can buy little wood shaved pouches of PEPPERMINT enhanced and throw these in the engine bay, under seats etc. They hate Peppermint smell.

You can then buy a bottle from LorAnn Oils and revive the shavings 1 time a month for repeated help. It works the charm. Get the pouches from Rural King or Tractor Supply or the like

I keep mine in recirculate also. It didn't help. I had to take out the fan motor to get all of the nesting material out of the fan. The little rodent had chewed up the filter and drug in leafs and twigs to make his nest. Now I use this:

I bought a K&N cabin filter. I had a OEM one and was barely getting any air flow I put this in made a huge difference in air flow especially now that it is -35c

I should probably go check mine. My vents are weak as far as air flow, so I can only imagine what I am about to walk in on.

Driver side view. A small ish square hole that DOES make its easy back behind the dash. Also, on both pax and driver side there’s a small hole. Likely not big enough for a mouse, but why take chances. Silicone the hell out of everything. Lol

Thanks for replying. I sealed up this and other non-critical holes with some stuff I had in stock, and meshed over the large air intake hole for any future rodents.

I change both the engine and cabin af’s at every oil change (5000 miles). I do a lot of dirt road dusty driving.

Like the guy said earlier mice can go through any opening they can get their heads through. Try spray foam in areas that don’t need to be open like the cabin air intake.
Another option if you’re comfortable and able is to keep the hood cracked open and the interior of the engine bay illuminated with a led light set up when the truck is parked. They avoid well lit areas. If you trap them try peanut butter. It’s worked very well for me in the past.
Eliminating them on their way to your truck makes sense too.

I have been using these in the CR-V for 7 years and just put one in the Tundra. For the price and replacing every 6 months or so, I think they work just fine.

    Too many, but not enough....
You need to remove the wiper blades, which i beleive are 14mm nuts, then there are 2 pop clips on the sides of the cowl where it meets the metal body. There are also 4 plastic clips under the cowl along the length of it that are annoying to remove and easy to break. it should pop out after that pretty easily.
