I installed the fogs and they are great!

Unfortunately, when I turn them on they generate a tone of RF Interference enough to drown out my favorite radio station (factory radio).

I have tried installing 2 ferrite coils on the power cables on each side and it didn't seem to make a difference.

I have since ordered a pair of braided grounding cables to try and install, but does anyone have any other suggestions or experience?

My EE knowledge is extremely limited, but I'm assuming you're running their wires through the driver's side which I'm guessing the antenna is run through too? If that's the case, what happens if you completely bypass the driver's side firewall pass through, and hot wire the lights straight to the battery? Does the radio work then? My guess would be the radio and the lights wiring are in close proximity and causing the issue, and you might be fine running the lights wiring down a different path.

    Thanks for the reply.

I bought the tundra install kit that simply plugs into the factory harness.

I know other people on here have done that upgrade so I thought I would check.

I bought the truck used - maybe the previous owner had an aftermarket radio installed and when they put the OEM unit back in they did not ground it out well?

Anyone else that has done the SS3 fog upgrade have issues with RF?

I have SS3 pro fog and no interference with my radio. I only listen to one station, 100.3 and most other times are Bluetooth audio.

I had the same problem when I put a rigid lightbar in but the coils solved my problem. Maybe try moving the coils around on the wiring harness. Unplug them one at a time to try and find out if it’s one or both causing the problem.

I'm having RF issues with my SS3 Pro fogs as well - I noticed it in my comms, specifically on MURS frequencies. Seems like it affects parts of the VHF range, but UHF (GMRS) is fine. I got mine through Hotshot Offroad and let @memario1214 know. Sounds like this isn't super common, but has happened from time to time. We'll see if a swap out under warranty cleans it up.

My DD fogs cause radio interference, but I just turn them off. Every light except BD caused interference, Rigid did also. I went nuts and had ferrite suppressors on everything, didn’t help, only thing they worked on is reducing noise from my whips. Concluded the noise comes from the lights, rerouting wiring didn’t help. You have your radio directly to the battery?

I've got my Icom on one of my SwitchPro circuits. But it does the same on my Baofeng, so it's not related to the truck wiring. It's weird that none of my other Diode lights do it, including a set of SS3 Sports in the back. Just the Pros up front. And replacing them with some Rough Country cheapies I had sitting around killed the noise. Ferrite chokes didn't do crap on them.

    Too many mods to come
Interesting. I’ve got DD fogs on mine with no interference.

New ones are on the way. You didn’t perchance try them independently did you?

I did. Same noise on both, separately powered or together.
