I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Alright team Tundra, pricing will soon be released officially to the public. We anticipate glowing reactions from happy Toyota faithful who will be delighted to give us a lot of their money!

    More details to follow.

We ought to start a pool for the first one of us on this forum who actually buys one and gets it to their driveway. Putting in a deposit, taking a test drive, or getting on a waiting list doesn't count. I've been on a waiting list to have a date with a famous female singer since 1980, but it's going nowhere.

Also - I dreamt of some great options for the truck and here are some if R&D is still working over there:
    1. a Dukes of Hazard Edition_ _ _ _ the paint, horn, the whole 9 yards
    2. I need a triple cab crewmax _ _ _ _ a little cut & splice & it'd be beauty
    3. on-demand supercharger instead of TT
    4. in-door gun rack for law enforcement _ _ _ _ when your partner in the squad car doesn't want to go clear back to the bed locker to get the long gun

    2Tundras,

Those are excellent ideas, especially if we can put extra chrome on all the options you mentioned.

I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag, but market research has shown that we can take the Tundra upmarket in new and exciting ways. For example we are working on doing to the Tundra what Porsche does with their cars: namely remove equipment, call it a lightweight version, or GT etc and then charge exponentially more money for it. Porsche customers line up for cars like the 911 GT3 which doesn’t even have door handles inside, and they charge almost double a more well equipped 911!

We think a basic Tundra TRD Trophy edition with no back seats, no radio, no AC, cloth door pulls, crank windows, no sound insulation, and other omissions would sell. If we market it as a performance model our idiot customers will gobble them up for $120,000 MSRP.

    Thoughts?

These all seem like the opposite to the direction Toyota is going with the truck.

thats the only direction toyota knows how to do. Toyota disabled hank JR from being played in the truck when they starting pumping in iforce 5.7 V8 sound thru the speakers. I think they removed country music stations from the new 14 inch big screen too

    FO LO,

Thanks for the suggestion to eliminate traditional country music, and outlaw country music from the stereo system of the Tundra. While the 2022 will not have this feature, the refresh in 2034 can have this incorporated.

I know that you and most Tundra owners who listen to country music only listen to Luke Bryan, Shania Twain, and other pop country. Just as your soft rock loving counterparts in their Tundras love pop music, Elton John, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, and the Back Street Boys.

So we are working hard to put together music folders featuring only easy listening and mindless pop rock, and pop country to meet the expectations of our loyal customers like you.

Further input is needed on how much volume the stereo should be able to put out. Our research shows Tundra owners just want quiet background music, and prefer to be able to hear the various alarms, and electronic nannies pester them at higher volumes. I think you’re going to love the stereo in the 2034 refresh!

    Team,

In addition to putting together a Tundra owner approved play list and volume limit, we have also been exploring the possibilities of more focused play lists. For example Canadian market Tundras might be sold with only one song played on loop until December 1-31. The Primary song being Gordon Lightfoot’s “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald”, and during December “Feliz Navidad”.

    Thoughts?

    OppoMojo,

If you go back a page or two another team member is already working on that concept except with the option of administering “Sleepy Time” gas to the hood/bubble.

That would be copying GM and their 2500 series.

Now i'd have to say Toyota has done a fine job of farking up the front end and if we were to award 'best job ruining the front end of a vehicle' i think Toyota would be in the running. Lexus would, of course, ultimately be the winner but there would be some discussion about whether GM or Toyota gets second place.

    Berrettafan,

Thank you for expressing your enthusiasm for the new front end styling of the 2022 Tundra.

Within the talented ranks of designers and engineers here at team Tundra we already have some guys and gals busy working on a retrofit kit for 2007-2021 Tundras to upgrade to the new front end styling. So far the leading design contender is easily secured to any existing 2nd Gen or 2.5 Gen Tundra by simply peeling the protective strips off the applied adhesive and sticking the new grill on any older Tundra. Much like the fake hood scoops that most 2.5 Gen owners love, you can peel and stick a Gen 3 grill on your older Tundra.

We even made sure that this new stick on grill is compatible with the vast majority of stick on, and bolt on hood scoops and fender flares, allowing you to customize with as many JC Whitney parts as you desire. So go ahead Tundra faithful and visit your parts counter today and put in a pre-order for a new 3rd Gen stick on grill for your 2nd-2.5Gen pricing is expected to come in around $3,500 before dealer adjustments.

I’m sure with a name like Berettafan you are an automobile connoisseur, an enthusiast for the late great Chevrolet Beretta. If anyone enjoys glued on, stick on, or bolt on cosmetic items I know you must. Such is your impeccable taste!

Keep the positive ideas and energy flowing!

    Eick,

That is a great idea, and one we may incorporate in the IROC version of the SR5 Sport edition. We think it will be popular in the southern regions of the country with our customers who enjoy cut off shorts, tank tops, and haircut called the “mullet”.

We think the T-Top option will pair nicely with the all chrome plated interior trim.

    Oppomojo,

Right you are, but the dealers are very jealous of how much fun Toyota Motor Corporation USA has had in dribbling out pricing and details on the 2022 Tundra that they are demanding the ability to do the same on accessories. So to throw them a bone, we are allowing them to pull the bait and switch on their end instead of ours.

The last meeting marketing a Toyota Motor finance arm had with the dealers they wanted to know if it would be possible to carry 2.5X of MSRP on financing. So prepare to see a lot of SR and SR5 Tundras with minimal options and a lot of dealer added equipment for “fairly adjusted” pricing at the dealer. Don’t worry financing will be available!

    Team Tundra,

Just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your hard work up to this point. The launch of the new 3rd Generation Tundra is going as planned. There are of course teething issues but we’re all working hard to address them at the customer level and institute production changes to eliminate them for future customers.

A few upcoming changes need to be noted:

1.) We have received overwhelmingly positive feedback regarding Toyota subscription services to allow customers to be able to utilize functions and hardware they already paid for. Customers love giving us more money!

a.) With the above in mind we are rolling out a software update in February that will render all functions of the new trucks inoperable unless the customers subscribe to our service. We think a $1000.00/month subscription fee for full function is a good deal.

b.) Going forward dealer installed options will also require a subscription fee.

2.) Customers are mostly raving about the lack of front recovery hooks on the new Tundra. However there are a few malcontents who are complaining bitterly about the lack of “tow hooks” up front, even all of our YouTube shills like the lackeys at TFL Truck. So we have a plan to address this with a dealer installed power folding front tow hook package.

a.) A front tow hook assembly will be able to replace the front air dam, or be installed on TRD Pro trucks. Both variants power fold out of the way when not in use, mostly so we can ensure they are subject to subscription service.

b.) The cost will be $8,000 parts and labor with labor being covered as book rate warranty work for installation.

c.) The monthly subscription fee will be $100.00/month for one activation. Additional activations will be $50.00 per use in a given month.

d.) The tow hooks will require a new front bumper assembly (included in the package) that is entirely chrome finished.

e.) The tow hooks themselves will be the largest on any truck for sale today measuring 12” wide with a circular shape sticking out 6”, made from 3” diameter cold rolled steel plated in chrome.

f.) Approximate total weight will be 500lbs, an amended payload sticker will be applied on each truck reflecting the now lower payload.

Thanks everyone for your hard work!

    Mr. Sweerg,

I work for the oil and gas industry, as do most of us (who drive a Tundra) do in one way or another. Would it be possible to incorporate increased fuel consumption into the overpowered decreased cylinder turbocharged engines that you have designed into the new model? I, and most of my co-workers, believe that it would serve to stimulate the economy through more oil and gas production due to the increased consumption, and as a secondary benefit hasten the disproval of all that carbon footprint nonsense.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
    TampaRD Pro,

Thank you for the useful feedback.

To answer your question we have considered adding an optional engined that would in fact give us much much higher fuel consumption with no real benefit to power. We had initially planned to offer a V8 with the last two cylinders having no pistons, connecting rods, or even a crank journal underneath them, just a solid bottom to a shallow bore. We had planned to only have one intake and one exhaust valve along with a spark plug and fuel injector for each cylinder. Under boost the cylinder would be filled with compressed air, and fuel would be injected and ignited, then flow into the exhaust to replicate a V8 sound for all the customers who are too stupid to understand that cylinder count doesn't equal power output or longevity. Effectively this system would convert the combination of gasoline, air, and an ignition source into noise and heat. This would have been marketed as a V8 since there would technically be 8 cylinders and our customers are so damn stupid they wouldn't know the difference anyway.

We ran into a major issue however with a patent infringement. As it turns out another company beat us to a system of valves, air intake, fuel injection, and spark that result in nothing but noise and heat with no actual power being produced. They vigorously defend this patent and trademark sound that is vital to their marketing and lifestyle for their truly idiotic customers. Unfortunately Harley-Davidson, Inc wouldn't even allow us to use our slightly different gasoline to noise conversion system without filing a lawsuit, and would not allow us to license or pay a royalty. Their position being that diluting their signature sound, function, and branding was too high a risk.

So we instead decided to pipe in racy powerful engine sounds with the audio system.

I hope that answers your question.

    Regards,

    Mike Sweerg

So shocked the new 2022s are finally here. And before Superbowl Sunday!

There's another finish option the company could have used...maybe a SEMA Car Show Special would be the place to try it out. When I lived in New Jersey in the 1960s, a couple of guys with Corvettes FLOCKED the entire car body...all the sheet metal except where chromed. Picture a new 1968 with fuzzy orange flocking, kinda like 1/4"-thick polyester fur, on a new 'Vette. I don't remember what the thinking was behind it in those wild and crazy days. All in the name of Custom Mods, I guess. Some people are flocking their dashes to reduce light reflectivity these days. Why not the whole vehicle!
