Definitely not in my head, but I've never heard an official reason. I have seen others here though say they've experienced the same.

My 2018 with tow/haul off felt similar to my 2021 with tow/haul on in my opinion. Not a huge deal, I drive my Tundra pretty tame.

Unfortunately whatever changes they made that caused this didn't help my fuel mileage any. My '21 gets noticeably worse mileage than my '18 did, unless that can be explained by the extra weight of the CM over the DB.

When I started Tundra shopping in Sept 2020, I wanted a 16-17 with around 60k miles. With how long Tundras last, that’s basically a new truck. But due to the already insane resale value plus the scarcity of used vehicles at the time, I was looking at spending only $3k more for a new one.

So…I went ahead and bought a ‘21, my first new vehicle purchase ever. I wish my truck didn’t have the TSS stuff and did come with a cooler from the factory. But I fixed the cooler issue myself, and I never use lane departure alert or adaptive cruise. It’s non-intrusive if you just leave all that stuff off. When I get super muddy off-roading, sometimes my dash tells me the collision alert is disabled. Once it’s clean, the dash light goes away. Doesn’t affect anything either way.

I went from a 2011 Tacoma to a 2018 Tundra Crewmax Offroad and really liked it. I loved my Tacoma so when I decided to sell my 2018 Tundra in November I had just received a 2021 Tacoma. Great truck but didn't love it as much as my Tundra I found out lol. So on last Wednesday I sold my 21 Tacoma and bought a 21 Tundra Platinum Demo. I didn't do a trade and I was able to get all my money back plus on for my Tacoma. I really like my 21 Tundra now. My 2018 Tundra had zero issues except for 3 recalls. One was a update and the 2nd was a wire going to the right headlight I think. It was a great truck which I should have hung onto in hind sense lol. I lucked out finding this Demo though because there was only 6 Tundra's for sale older than 2012 and up. Only one 21 and one 20. I wouldn't hesitate buying a 2018 or newer. Before my 2011 Tacoma I had a 2008 4Runner. No problems all those years with my Toyota's!

I put a Peddle Commander into my 21 Tacoma because it was a dog compared to my 2011 Tacoma. Didn't have a problem with my 2018 Tundra and so far my 21 Tundra seems ok but it's been really icy. Time will tell ! The Peddle Commander made a huge difference in my Tacoma!
