Thinking/expecting to move to Seattle next summer and doing my research. Was going to buy a 2022 hybrid tundra, but have a 2020 limited crew max right now.

Whats the deal with use-tax, TRK class, and new residents if I end up buying the new tundra within 90 days of moving?

Any advice about moving up there, vehicle tax, and misc is appreciated!

Have to leverage the dropping housing prices to start a new vigilante freedom force that only helps who we want, of course.

Without getting political, I hope it's a smooth transition for ya.
Maybe @Green Thunder has some insight on the King County auto laws.

Thanks! Hopefully it’s smooth, just not sure what to expect across the board.

Curious what industry you're in, if you don't mind sharing?

If possible, I would live in Snohomish or Pierce County. More house for your money and less taxes from what I hear.

@turtletundra. I honestly don’t know about those taxes. You should check the WA Dept of Licensing. If I had to guess, you may need to pay the difference in sales tax between where you bought it and Seattle. We are around 10.2% tax now, but new autos have other taxes as well. It can be a throat punch.

What I don’t know is how long that applies after purchase. OR state has no sales tax, so the laws here seem to be written to catch clowns that buy RVs in OR and try to then license them in WA.

Then there’s our license tab taxes. My guess is a new rig will cost somewhere between $800-1,000 annually. Our RTA tax makes up most of that fee. If you want a way to legally avoid it, look here:https://www.tundras.com/threads/was...egistration-rta-tax.58695/page-4#post-2446824

    Good luck with your research.

Check the build link in my signature.

If you are a resident if another state and own and have registered a private vehicle for more than 90 days in that other state before moving to WA, you can avoid paying use tax.

No idea what sort of registration costs there are in King County - down here my last registration was around $110 because the annual tags are not “value” based like they were 20 years ago. You will want to go through the steps to get your weight verified about 6k so you can avoid the light rail tax as GT mentioned.

I'm in snohomish county and I would recommend finding something up here. Housing prices are "better" than King Co and lower taxes (sales, use, etc.) current tags here for my '18 tundra is $120.50 (and thank you btw for posting this so I didn't forget to renew my tabs :D)

Where are you coming from? gl with the move

That post is 1 year old and he hasn't been on since February.
Wonder if he ever moved or even has a Tundra.
