Hey guys! Wanted to share my new tires with everyone, give my thoughts on them and answer questions, and start a dedicated thread. Currently running Mickey Thompson Baja Boss A/Ts in 295/70/r18, and have about 600 miles on them. I'm coming from a set of Falken wildpeaks that I put around 50k miles on.

These balanced out perfectly, my falkens could never get balanced out right, it's amazing having a perfectly smooth ride with no shakes. My falkens also had a really bad radial pull on one tire, ill see if these tires have it as well as I get into tire rotations.

They're made in USA, stamped right on the side of the tire in a really bold imprint. You can't miss it.

The tread is very aggressive for an AT, on their website they state its a hybrid tire. I believe it! The sidewall has an incredibly aggressive tread, that looks great.

Wet weather performance is outstanding so far. These tires are incredibly grippy in all conditions I've tested so far.

Quiet. These tires are so damn quiet it's insane. I don't know how they accomplished this, my Falkens had some noise that got progressively worse with wear, and sounded like a full blown MT during the last 20k miles. I'll keep everyone updated on the noise These make as they wear in.

They're snow rated, they have the little mountain symbols on them, which the falkens also had. I live in south, so not a necessity, but I travel alot, and never know where I might end up.

I got them from discount tire, they don't show up on their website, but give them a call and they probably have them in stock somewhere, I believe they shipped mine from a warehouse in Oregon. Had them in 3 days.

If you have any questions, let me know. Initial impressions, these are so much better than the Falkens, if these wear well, and perform great throughout the life of the tire, I'm definitely getting another set. These look way more aggressive in person than any pictures will show.20211216_163019.jpg 20211216_153446.jpg

Thanks for the review. I’ve got 35k on my ridge grapplers and they are trash in the snow and rain. I’ll never buy these tires again. Been looking at the falkens but these bajas have caught my eye so I’ll be getting a new pair of these in the coming weeks. Thanks again!

You're gonna love them! I hope they do well in the snow, I doubt I'll have much driving time in the snow with them.

And a bonus, they're cheaper than the Falkens too!

Good looking tire. I've been happy with my Falkens so far and haven't had the issues you described, but goodness have prices jumped. I'm not loyal to any particular tire so I'll be watching this thread to see how the Mickey Thompsons work out for you.

Thanks for the review. I’ve been very happy with Duratracs, but these caught my eye when they came out. I have about another year and a half left in the DTs and then I’ll probably give these a whirl.

I agree, they definitely are more aggressive looking when you see them in person.

Have you run these in loose sand yet? Considering the Baja name, I presume they are designed for effective sand traction. I encounter tons of sugar sand in my area, that's the main reason why I got the BFG KOs. But these are catching my eye...

Strongly considering these tires. Beefing up my suspension to the 6112/5160(when in stock) and going with the same 295/70/18. One thing I noticed on their website is the approx. weight of these is 75lbs/ea.
Have you noticed the weight of these since you've had them on?

These are supposed replacements for the Cooper ST MAXX all terrains - Cooper owns Mickey Thompson.

I got one of last sets of ST MAXXs that Discount Tire had available (at least I was told back in September).

I can vouch for these in the snow (as viewed in my profile pic). We got 12" yesterday. No issues getting out of my driveway in 4hi (1000' long). Agree with everything OP said too (regarding the Mickeys). I've got probably 2500mi on the tires.

I've noticed it's a little more sluggish. But I went up in tire size so it's expected

I was originally going to go with the Boss AT but I figured if I was going to ditch the Toyos I had on, might as well go all the way. So I went with the Boss MT. Absolutely love them and they are quieter than most MTs.

Those are badass, I bet they look way more aggressive in person. I might get those on my 7.3 when I convert it to 4x4

Have 10k ish on mine now. My quick review of 315/70r17 E load range.

Not that soft and noticeably heavy. The 73lb 35s add a bit of bump steer to the front and quickly make the truck feel, well, like a truck on bad roads. Compared to their predecessors, the ATZ P3s that I ran before them, they are worse in both noise and weight as well as ride quality. The ATZ 35s were D load, which I recommend over E load.

Oddly they're both good and bad in the wet, but if this makes any sense, "in a good way".

They are super easy to push into a slide on command, I have surprised a few passengers with intentional drifts through corners. They remain easy to control despite their initial willingness to break free. Despite that, I have had no issues with hydroplaning, floating or traction control under normal conditions. Better than my experience with KO2s and Ridge Grapplers here.

Snow, we had some, about 4-6" a few weeks back. No issues in that with bags in the back. Almost exactly the experience I had with the ST Maxx tires, good snow tire, at least in my brief tests.

Basically Ive had a ton of tires in the past 4-5 years. These are in the upper end for quality. I'd rate them just below their predecessor, the ATZ P3 as they were more comfortable and 65lbs is about my limit for weight without affecting driving. Since the ST Maxx was basically a clone on the ATZ P3, they were in every way the same, still better than the Baja ATs. If I had to do a quick rank of my experience for the last years it'd be this:

    Best to worst:
    Cooper ST Maxx
    Mickey ATZ P3s
    Mickey Baja AT
    Cooper XLT
    Nitto Ridge Grappler
    Falken ATW3
    BFG KO2
    BFG KO

Should add, the Baja ATs are very quiet for their size. We also picked up Toyo AT3s SL for the 4Runner at the same time, the Toyos have been louder the entire time. Nittos tires seem to be on the louder side, my Ridge Grapplers were pretty bad as soon as they hit 20K miles.

Thanks for the great review! I will say that maybe your ride quality has alot to do with the E load tire. D load does ride better. I personally prefer an E load in anything I drive. They're tough and can handle alot of miles before needing to be replaced.

True, at least in my experience. I've had harsher E loads, Ridge Grapplers and Trail Grapplers. The Bajas feel pretty close to how I remember the KO2s being. Noticeable in some conditions, other times not too bad.

I've had mine for only about 1K miles and they are quiet compared to my previous Nitto Trail Grapplers...but anything would be quieter than my Trail Grapplers. My Bajas are 35s on 17" wheels and like others have said, they feel a bit heavy. More snow predicted for this weekend here in VA so hoping to get a chance to run through it. I had the option of going with the Nitto Ridge Grapplers but I'm real happy with the Bajas.

$1630 out the door without certificates. Got the certificate for one tire later when I got then mounted and balanced, if something goes wrong with a tire, just bring that tire in and get it replaced/repaired. I never had to use my certificates, so I only get them for one tire now.
