    Hi,

I thought things might be different now, but still many dealers have low inventory.

I'm in the market for a Platinum 4x4 (probably consider a 1794), and curious of the average wait time if I placed an order to have one built. Does anyone know?

I'm just tired of hunting around for one.

    Thanks :)

Toyota does not take orders to have a truck built. How long until your dealer gets the truck you want allocated to them? Could be this coming week. Could be a few months.

Platinums and 1794s specifically are being held back and delayed.

Most consistent rumor I’ve heard is batteries. Plat and 1794 utilizes a larger battery that is low supply.

lots of dealers are saying they’re delayed but some say QC and fixing some of the issues the YT’rs found and some say the batteries

I just had to call around until I found a dealer that had an allocation that matched what I wanted (I wanted a Platinum as well). Then you have to wait until it comes in.

Interesting, i had no idea they needed a different battery. Also, if they are fixing issues that have popped up on early models i’ll gladly wait a little bit longer. I prefer that to getting it only to return it to the dealer for recalls.

Didn’t know this…is that something that they never allow OR something they don’t allow for new vehicle introductions?

Pardon my ignorance btw…I bought my 2015 two years used so my upcoming 2022 is first new Toyota truck.

They’re not serious issues recall worthy. Just some bad initial quality control.

And the battery is just one of the consistent rumors. But there have been a lot of December build plat and 1794 delayed into January.

OP- where are you located? I placed a deposit on a platinum two weeks before thanksgiving with a 1/6 build date. Moved from 12/13.. I get contacted weekly by other dealers informing me of their upcoming allocation and can keep you posted. I’m in PA

Platinums are unobtainium where I’m location (Ontario Canada). I put a deposit in May and I was initially told end of December. That has now been pushed to end of Feb/March. I called every dealer in the province and no one had any coming in. Someone backed out of one so I put a refundable deposit on it along with the one I already had a deposit on. That one is also expected end of Feb just a different colour.

that said a local dealer got one and are using it for a demo. It was a 1794. I asked if they would sell it and they said no. Not sure why they would get their demo before a customer order…

Dealers that I know in more northern states have not gotten a single truck yet.

Who and how would anyone know why?

I'm based in Austin TX. I've expanded my search to include not only Platinum, but nicely equipped SR5, Limited, 1794. Must be a 4x4 crew cab. I spent today reaching out to dealers but still no luck in locating something.

I'm willing to pay to have something shipped to me, but many dealers aren't selling their trucks to out of state buyers.

    I guess I'll keep checking....

why don’t you put 1000 down at cedar park Toyota like I did. It’s always refundable and you can get to know what’s coming in. I was 20th on there list and have had my platinum since the 10th.

My local dealers only have 1794s and one specifically have $20k markup. Which is crazy.. Funny how that thing works.

Also deposit at cedar park. I went from looking for a 1794 to give me anything limited or higher that has TRD and 6.5’ bed

my hurry is that they agreed on a trade in value for my truck and my preapproved check from navy federal is only good for 60 days. I mean i could get financing anytime or anywhere but i already have a blank check with a really good interest rate.

How was your close experience on your Platinum? Did they end up selling for agreed upon price?

Put down $2500 for my 1794 TRD off road crewmax on Dec 1st. Still no word of delivery date. Sales rep said it was supposed to be built in May but they not 100% sure. If I don't get mine soon, thinking about xcl and ordering a 2023! Guess it is 1794s and platinums though cause I only see a couple around and lots of SR5 and limited.
