Guess you’re saying every new 22 owner is married and has young kids.

Didn't say that at all actually. You are the one using statements like "most" and "every".

Having some of the same issue. Have a limited with TRD package coming. It has silver running boards and I wanted to do a swap out for the black ones. The factory would not change the build sheet. Will have to see what the silver ones look like on it. The color is white. May even purchase the TRD black ones, have the dealer put them on, and sell the other ones.

Can anyone tell me the difference between the dual step running board and the TRD running board other than the price. Big difference in cost.

Not sure what that means. I guess what I’m asking is there a difference in size or functionality?
Is there a noticeable difference in appearance?
Is the additional cost of the TRD because of material ?

the TRD boards seem to be skinnier, tucked in and more low profile.

from what i can tell the are closer to function as the old classic running boards (see truck profile), closer to body (less gap) than the dual step tube bars.

The TRD boards are high and tight to the body for ground clearance. They look cool but actually trying to step on them is difficult with boots on because they are tucked in close to the body I could only get my toe on the board not a full foothold if that makes sense. And on the way out they are pretty much useless.

loved the way they look but just not functional as a step for me.

I kinda feel the same way about the regular steps. I only use my heel to step and get out.

Yes they are the dual step running boards for a 2022 Crewmax.

I would rather not ship. Hoping someone local will appreciate the $250 savings on these and come and pick them up.

Would they be useful for smaller or kids feet?

I’m 6-2 and never a fan of steps myself. I skip them in and out and when getting out in the winter always end up with muck on my pants. Alas my kids need a step up and my wife isn’t keen without steps.

The dual step running boards are not that great. I will be changing them later in the year. They are useful getting in but even the rubber step is kind of slippery when its wet. I didn't have the option for the TRD since the truck already came with the dual step from the factory. The TRD also offers more surface area for you to step in and out.
