Just an FYI, the A-pillar that was marketed as painted is actually a wrap. I saw it on this SR5 and it was coming up a bit, and confirmed it again today on a Limited, so it seems like it is happening across the board. Looks like the car is paint-matched on the pillars, so if you like that look, it should be pretty easy to peel off.

I’ve been waiting for someone to peel their A-pillar. I’m too chicken to do so, I really want to see it without first. :)

I’d probably even remove the ones between the door, but I’m not sure. My Taco had the half black half silver, which I think I’d like on the Tundra

Glad to know it’s a wrap. It looks a little odd on the A pillar. I peeled mine off of my 2018 B pillar and it turned out very nice, the paint looks better than the vinyl.

I can't understand why they would do that. Surely the 6 guys who want black A pillars could vinyl wrap them themselves after buying their trucks.

Looks like the SRs already have this wrap deleted:

    Looks like Blueprint.

I heard somewhere the A pillar was blacked out to give it the look of an offroad helmet.

I guess I am the first!! I have a Mesquite Limited. Hated that wrap and it was peeling a bit. I took a shot, put a heat gun to it and it peeled right off. I did NOT do the B pillar between the two doors though. Didn't bother me that much and I'm not exactly sure what's underneath as it's not peeling.
My paint was perfect underneath and it definitely improved the appearance

Ill try to attach some decent ones tomorrow. The mesquite is hard to photograph.

I'm actually going to add the wrap to my SR, but I like the white with black look. It matches my BRZ.upload_2022-3-5_20-11-38.jpg

I never liked the black on the B pillar on my 2019 Limited. I did not know it was a wrap.

I was just looking at mine and decided to look for this thread, ironically recent posts.

I still haven’t done it, but if/when I do, I think I’m going to only take off the one piece on the a-pillar (wind shield side) and leave the one on the door. Still a bit chicken. :)

nice pics. It’s tough when it comes to keeping the solid “black” between the fronts and rears, or letting the truck color through. I think it looks good on the white, but really boxes the look out.

prob cheaper in the long run to paint it and then wrap than to leave it unpainted, prep it for a wrap then wrap it, than just covering up painted surface done by a robot.

been doing this since at 3rd gen taco i think. our 2016 taco had this same wrap.

I would personally take the ones off the windshield pillars first. Run around like that for a while then decide if you want to do the door pillars or not. I would keep the door pillar ones.

I got the mark off with some cheap wax but it feels like they sanded the area.
