Yeah, crazy they make a bed length which is the most popular for consumer sales.

I have noticed garages built in the 70’s were deeper for those long boat caddy’s they had back then. My buddy’s garage which was built in the 80’s is much shallower because cars got smaller I think in that decade.

I'm curious where they added the length. The wheel base appears to be the same as the previous gen. When I park my '16 Pro Crew in my garage I pull in until the tires hit the tirestop. That leaves about 1 - 1.5" clearance for the door to shut. If the added length is in the nose - no problem as I have about a 12 - 14" clearance up front. If it is to the tail then I'll either have to figure out if I have enough driveway approach forwards so that I can then back in w/out a 20 point turn, park on the street (nope), or find another vehicle whenever I'm done with this one :(

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
The EV credits will only last until a given manufacturer reaches 200,000 EV units sold then it goes to zero. If we get lucky, really, really lucky the feds will increase it to $12500 (I know, I know only for units built by unions).

It's 12 inches longer than my tacoma. Assuming that 6 of those inches are in the front it is going to be a really close fit in my garage. Crossing fingers.

I have the same issue. Test drove a '14 1794 Crewmax, listed at 229 inches, pulled into the garage to the tirestop and it fit. Also tried a 2021 Ram 1500 Crewcab 5-7 box, which is listed at 233 inches, and it fit too. Anybody got an answer for where this added length is in the 22 Tundra?

This seems to be basically correct. Most, if not all, the added inches are in the front. 2014 vs. 2022, in my garage.upload_2021-12-20_8-8-53.jpg upload_2021-12-20_8-9-20.jpg upload_2021-12-20_8-9-58.jpg upload_2021-12-20_8-10-21.jpg

Question for anyone with a short bed 5.5. I am looking to order an in bed mechanical ramp for one person use loading and unloading a motorcycle. As it has some lead time to ship want to order now for incoming short crew.
The bed measurement is listed under specs but also need the cab bedwall measurement to edge of tailgate when DOWN. Confirmation of bed itself would be great as well. Many thx if someone has a chance.

Any chance someone has come across the outside cab wall to top of tailgate when tailgate is down on a 5’6” bed?

It's def the Jay Leno chin adding the 4".

Honestly, if you look at the cooling system, I am not surprised they had to add some length. The intercooler exchangers straddle the radiator and they had to fit those in behind the headlight/front clip. I bet they needed a little room to fit it all in.

Sorry if garbled. The ramp goes from outside cab wall to the very edge of the tailgate when DOWN. Specs are not generally listed for such a measurement. Easiest way to look at is how long of a board will fit flat in the bed of a 5’6” model with tailgate open and zero board overhang.
** An edit…yes the bed plus tailgate should be the number and likely is, but manufacturer insisted it is close but usually slightly different due to how tailgate is on a hinge etc.(I am still skeptical of that reasoning)

I would park it out side, call it a day and start shopping for boats that would fit in the garage. I Dont understand the “need” to park a truck in a garage.

I already don’t park my truck in the garage…just saying how my anatomy would respond to that situation.

Does the 2022 height listed at 78" account for the radio antenna 'fin' ? I'm right at 80" height for my garage opening. I don't mind keeping it outside most of the time, but I'd love to move it in to avoid snow and hail.

You would think with the smaller motor and redesign, the truck would actually be more compact on the outside and roomier on the inside. Seems they went the opposite direction? It's longer, wider, taller, and less roomy? Wonder how that happened, maybe they didn't hear all the people in their surveys telling them what they actually wanted, or needed (to fit into parking garages or a home garage).

I finally saw the 22 in person and side by side with my 17' I loved the look of it, (as long as I didn't look at the grille or the rear bumper) but the longer I looked, the happier I was to have my 17' it just feels more like a truck than the newbie does. Maybe it will evolve enough over the next few years to increase my attraction to it , but not yet.

I bet the cooling system is what caused it it to get longer. They have the radiator, two intercooler exchangers, and likely a hybrid system cooler in there. They had to fit all that somehow and be able to flow air through it efficiently.

The interior volume change could very well be airbags and safety stuff. Or it could just be that truck cabs have gotten ridiculously big and the space simply isnt needed. When I sit in the back of my F150 screw, I have like a full 12" between my knees and the front seat which is completely unnecessary.

Agree! When we had our home built, I wasn't aware of 18' garage doors. Found out 'after the fact' from a older and much wiser neighbor. When I had my garage built, I made sure there was a 18' door on each end!

    Glad to help!

All this talk about it being cramped or feeling smaller is blown out of proportion. The seat always bugged me in the 2011 that it didn't go back very far at all and I'm long legged. The 22 seats offer more seat room than I need and feels bigger inside. So, if you think it's a deal breaker, go sit in one and enjoy. Like McDonald's...I'm lovin it
